Is it better to do ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) by IIIT Nagpur or Electrical Engineering by VJTI?

I have a few friends at VJTI and they are not happy with the Electrical Engineering program offered by the institute. Here are some of the things that they mentioned about the institute. In VJTI, there has been a lack of good faculties for ages. Most of the professors in VJTI lack sufficient experience to deliver proper lectures and provide proper practical exposure to students. Due to the lack of faculties in VJTI, there are walk-in interviews conducted by the institute to hire faculties. But, even in those interviews, there is no proper candidate with good enough experience. Some of the faculties are even from tier-3 colleges. There is no proper laboratory equipment available in VJTI, especially in the electrical engineering department. Almost 90% of the lab works are done through software simulations. The class timings in VJTI are not satisfactory for most students in the institute. On a usual day, classes start from 9 AM and continue till 5 PM, which most students think to be too long and hectic. As a general student you have to pay an amount of rupees 88551 rupees for a year.(Does not depend whether you take admission through cap rounds or spot rounds). For obc category it's something around 78000(I don't know its exact figure). For sc and st category it's around 5500 for both of them. But if a student wishes to take admission through spot round then he/she have to pay full amount of general student that is 88551 yearly (except for st category students)

VJTI: A closer view

Very strict attendance policies for some dept. as this may lead to excessive pressure.

I pay yearly pay 4701/-, which is the fees for SC as well ST category, also PWD if applicable. This is inclusive of tution fees, caution fees etc. The usual fees is actually somewhere around 84,000/-. There is no such management quota available, aas its a prestigious institute which doesn't promote such things. I avail the Government of India Post Matric Scholarship. Affordability wise also its comparatively great, excluding reservations. Also the college offers private scholarships from tatas and ONGC, also Alumni Association.

VJTI makes you tough!!

Since it's a government institution the fees is quite less in comparison to that of private engineering colleges lik Somaiya and others. 85 thousand is so damn cheap considering we have placements which are only second to IITs. Yes, for students who comes from lower caste do get a lot of fees waiver like almost 30-50% on the tuition fees is discounted from their fees.

INSIGHTS OF VJTI

I am a general category student so the fee structure for a general category degree student is a total of 82850 INR this is from the second year onwards. In the first year, there was a deposit of around 2000 INR. So the breakdown of these fees is as 15000 as tuition fees 39850 as development fees 26000 as other fees 1500 as exam fees and 500 as alumni association life membership fees. which I think is affordable over any private college

How is life in VJTI

The college has very less fees compared to other colleges. If you are from Reserved category then you're fees might be very less. The scholarships are available if you put in the effort. The college takes scholarship awareness lecture to let people know about the different scholarships. The campus placement is really good for electrical department. The average is around 12-13lpa. The fee for 1st yr BTECH is 66000 something for general but I belonged to OBC so I have to pay 43000rs. There are many scholarships available in college by the government. The cost of study here is very minimalistic.
