Ans. Choosing one between IIIT Hyderabad and IIT Bombay for CSE will depend on your personal preferences since both the institutes are highly regarded especially in the field of Computer Science. Always remember that your success rate is directly proportional to your efforts and not your college.  Consider the following aspects and the preferred choice in each of them If you are looking for an elite peer pool with the most geniuses minds, prefer IIT Bombay to IIIT Hyderabad as it comprises JEE toppers, Olympiad Toppers, etc If you are looking for a better coding culture then IIIT Hyderabad it is. It has a larger number of students involved in GSoC, Competitive Programming, Open Source, etc If you want a better campus experience as a whole go for IIT Bombay. Its campus has a lake, a hill, a jungle, Mumbai City Skyline view, thus the quality of life is better here. Both the institutes have equally good placements for the average students while IIT Bombay has better opportunities for toppers. Ans. IIT Bombay’s rankings are a testament to its credibility and worth in the technology industry. Most JEE toppers consider IIT Bombay as their first preference. This is because IIT Bombay excels in almost all X aspects of B8 placements, faculty, or exposure. During the placement season companies from a wide range of sectors visit the campus. However, there are some dark facts behind these placement drives. I came to know of these realities through true friends and pass outs of the institute. One cannot deny the fact that IIT Bombay has witnessed an increase in demand due to the strong influence it has. It is sad to say but many coaching centers run by alumni of IIT Bombay promote the institute. When engineering aspirants contact the alumni for counseling and advice, most of them portray IIT Bombay as the best choice leading to a more influential decision. What I ultimately mean is that IIT Bombay is definitely the best choice when it comes to engineering. But the fact that no other college is as good as IIT Bombay is also not true.Read more

Ans. I haven’t heard of many people who actually join Electrical Engineering because they want to genuinely pursue Electrical. Rather most students take Electrical because their JEE Rank did not allow them admission to any other branch. In fact, some even take Electrical Engineering and opt for minors that match with their areas of interest. When it comes to interdisciplinary subjects, IIT Bombay provides the perfect chance to do so. What usually happens is that students are unaware of their area of interest while choosing their branch during admission. As a result they end up taking disciplines that match their ranks rather than interests. However, if you are clear about your choice of branch, don’t hesitate and go for it without thinking much of your rank. Although difficult, you can always change your branch if you later regret choosing that specific branch. I always suggest aspirants only choose the branch on the basis of their preferences and not the placements. Even if you land a good job, you will never be satisfied if you are working in an area that does not intrigue or excite you.Read more

Ans. IIT Gandhinagar CSE is a well-regarded program and despite being newly launched it has gained popularity in a short time period. This in itself is a testament to the quality of education offered here. The institute fairs well in almost all aspects be it faculty, opportunities, internships, and projects, etc.  The new IITs have their own weaknesses and strengths. Even the departments within an institute are not at the same level. The CSE department of IIT Gandhinagar is certainly superior among other branches of the institute and the institute itself is better than other new IITs.  The professors here have high qualifications and a strong research profile.  In all, you should certainly join CAE at IIT Gandhinagar if you want to experience a good campus life, with locational advantages, and excellent placements. Read more

Ans. IIT Gandhinagar has a great CSE department. The professors are among the best in India. Almost 50% of the faculty members are from the industry. So, you will get hands-on learning experience and in-depth knowledge about the current trends in the industry.  IITGN has a high-performing computer lab and two departmental labs with a capacity of 100 computers each. The research interface of the department is something the institute boasts about. Professors actively take part in cutting-edge research projects.  Companies such as IOCL, Goldman Sachs, ISRO, ITC, etc. recruit CSE students through IIT Gandhinagar placements. Ans. When it comes to IITs it’s not really easy to compare them especially when these both are of the same generation. However, if you still need to compare it is important for you to understand that an undergraduate degree is more of an exploration to discover your passion and interest. This hypothesis has been vetted by a large number of IIT graduates, IIM graduates, and many professors and IIT alums. Let’s take a few examples for a case in point. Dr. Raghuram Rajan, a top IIT alum studied electrical at IIT, followed up with an MBA at IIM and then a Ph.D. from MIT to become an economist. Also, the TVF guy (Jeetu bhaiya from the Kota Factory) did undergrad from IIT Kharagpur only to become a comedian and actor later. Interesting isn’t it? Flexibility: So now that you understand the importance of flexibility and passion, IIT Gandhinagar stands out here undoubtedly. The curriculum at IIT Gandhinagar is very flexible and it allows you to study anything under the sun. This flexibility is the reason behind the success of Many IIT Gandhinagar graduates. Apart from that, IIT Gandhinagar has the most funds among the second generation IITs. It offers around 30–40% of the batch with options to pursue foreign internships and great research opportunities. Location: If you compare IIT Ropar with IIT Gandhinagar, the latter takes the trophy again because it is situated in Gandhinagar which is the capital of Gujarat. The campus sits in the vicinity of CM residence, Vidhan Sabha, ambitious GIFT City project, prominent institutes such as DAIICT, NIFT, and many others. Placement: Placements at IIT Gandhinagar is excellent. The first CSE batch graduated in 2020. Without CSE only, firms such as Nutanix, Goldman Sachs, ITC, Barclays, etc. have been recruiting at the campus.  Alumni: IIT Gandhinagar has to date graduated about 600+ students from BTech and at least 80–90% of them are quite successful. You can see alums are working in firms such as Mckinsey, Microsoft in the US, Amazon, Apple, BCG, ATK, Google, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, ITC, PnG, to name a few. The choice of the institute between IIT Gandhinagar CSE  and IIT Guwahati ECE depends if you want to follow the branch of your interest or want just go for the brand name of the institute.  If you value a branch more than a brand then go for the institute that offers the branch of your choice. If you are inclined towards CSE, then go for IIT Gandhinagar without much hesitation. Despite being a new IIT, it offers the IT tag and education at par with most IITs. Don’t let the fact that it’s a new IIT demotivate you. The students maketh the college and not vice versa. But if you are bothered by the brand value and are hesitant about joining a new IIT, then go for IIT Guwahati.Read more

Ans. If you take my opinion then opting for IIT Gandhinagar for CSE is a better choice than going for ECE at IIT Guwahati. I am a student of IIT Gandhinagar and I can say that the CSE department is one of the best departments in terms of curriculums and placements. IIT Gandhinagar offers 4 years full-time BTech program for CSE. The average course fee for the first year is around INR 2.29 Lakhs . IIT Gandhinagar holds a ranking of 18th position out of 200 colleges in the NIRF ranking. The placement scenario for the department is good with 94.44% of students being placed in 2023 The median package is INR 25.06 LPA and the average package is INR 29.29 LPA.Read more
