Sheridan College Oakville Application Process

Indian students apply directly through Sheridan’s international portal, not through OCAS (which handles only Ontario domestic applications). The portal supports up to 5 program choices per application, with document uploads inside the applicant account.

  1. Create an account on the Sheridan international application portal and start a new application
  2. Pay the application fee of CAD 100 (INR 6,800) by card to lock the application
  3. Pick up to 5 program choices across diplomas, degrees, or graduate certificates
  4. Upload Class XII marksheet, Bachelor’s documents if applicable, and your English test score report
  5. Upload passport bio page and English translation of any non-English transcripts
  6. Track status inside the applicant portal, Sheridan updates offer status within 2 to 4 weeks of a complete file
  7. Accept the offer, pay the tuition deposit, and request a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for your study permit

Reality check: Picking 5 program choices does not guarantee 5 offers. Each program evaluates separately, and portfolio programs like Game Design and Visual Arts can take longer to review.

Sheridan College Oakville Admission Decisions

Sheridan releases Fall offers starting 1 November of the prior year, with rolling decisions after that until seats fill. For Fall 2027, first offers reach complete-file applicants from 1 November 2026 onward.

  • Offer release: 2 to 4 weeks after a complete application
  • Conditional offer: issued when a document (final transcript, English score) is pending
  • Tuition deposit: CAD 2,000 (INR 1.36 Lakhs) to secure the Letter of Acceptance
  • Acceptance deadline: typically 4 weeks from offer date
  • Deferral policy: one-time deferral to the next intake, subject to program availability

Sheridan College Oakville Documents Required

Sheridan asks for a lean document set at the application stage, with full originals held back for post-offer verification. All non-English documents must carry a certified English translation.

  • Passport bio page valid for at least 2 years beyond program start
  • Class X and Class XII marksheets with passing certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree transcripts and provisional or final degree certificate, if applicable
  • English proficiency score report (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, Duolingo, or CAEL)
  • Statement of Purpose for graduate certificates and competitive degree programs
  • Portfolio for Game Design, Interaction Design, and Visual Arts programs
  • Updated resume and work-experience letters, if claiming professional background
  • Letter of Recommendation when the program requests it (not universal)

Note: Financial proof is not required at the application stage. Sheridan reviews it only during the study permit process via IRCC. Keep CAD 20,635 (INR 14.03 Lakhs) as GIC-ready funds for the visa file.

Sheridan College Oakville Acceptance Rate

Sheridan does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place it at around 65 percent, based on open-door Ontario College program patterns where applicants meeting the published floor are generally admitted on a seat-available basis.

What drives rejections at Sheridan is seat exhaustion more than selectivity. Fall intake fills by February for popular programs like Game Design, Computer Programming, and International Business Management. Early submission matters more than a top-end profile here.

Insider note: Portfolio programs like Game Design and Interaction Design run tighter. Applicants with weak portfolios do get declined even when academics meet the floor, so invest time in the portfolio.

Canada Student Visa for Sheridan College Oakville Applicants

Indian students need a Canadian study permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The study permit requires a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from Ontario, Sheridan’s Letter of Acceptance, proof of funds including a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAD 20,635 (INR 14.03 Lakhs), and biometrics.

Apply online via the IRCC portal after receiving your LOA and PAL. Standard processing for India takes 4 to 8 weeks, so target LOA by May 2027 for a September 2027 start. On arrival, activate Guard.me health coverage within 90 days.

2026 update: IRCC has tightened study permit volumes under the national cap. PGWP eligibility for Sheridan’s postsecondary programs 8 months or longer remains intact, but confirm your program’s PGWP status on the Sheridan offer letter.

Tips for Sheridan College Oakville Admissions

The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Sheridan College Oakville over the last 2 intake cycles.

  • Submit the Fall application in October 2026, offers release from 1 November and early files get the fastest LOA
  • Pick 2 similar programs and 1 safety option in your 5 choices to maximise offers
  • Book the IELTS slot 8 weeks before application, rescheduling delays can bump you to late round
  • Build a 5 to 8 piece portfolio for Game Design or Visual Arts, reviewers prefer tight work
  • Keep the CAD 2,000 (INR 1.36 Lakhs) deposit ready before offer release
  • Explore automatic entrance scholarships through the funding for Indian students page
  • Confirm program-specific prerequisites, Maths for computing and Physics for engineering

Sheridan College Oakville Admissions Checklist

The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete in sequence for a Fall 2027 Sheridan College Oakville intake.

  1. By August 2026: finalise program shortlist and prerequisite subjects
  2. By September 2026: complete IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo with target score
  3. By October 2026: submit Sheridan application, pay CAD 100 fee, upload documents
  4. By December 2026: finalise portfolio for creative programs, request LORs
  5. By February 2027: accept offer, pay CAD 2,000 deposit, request LOA
  6. By April 2027: lock GIC of CAD 20,635, open student bank account, book biometrics
  7. By May 2027: submit IRCC study permit application with PAL

Sheridan College Oakville admissions reward speed over selectivity. Fall 2027 opens in October 2026 with offers rolling from 1 November, and the Indian students who lock LOAs earliest are those who submit complete files inside the first 4 weeks. Keep the IELTS score, portfolio, and CAD 2,000 deposit ready to move quickly when offers land.

Scholarship

  • Yes, scholarships are available. Depending upon the program you are studying, It is offered accordingly. I got $750 scholarships for each semester. So for two semesters I got $1500. Every student studying with me got this scholarship. Most of my Bach mates got it. I don’t know of a single person who didn’t, to be honest. On average, the basic scholarships are bagged by everyone but the ones with huge amounts, like $3000 or more, are as per eligibility criteria. Some are for specific degree programs, while others are to help disabled people, etc.

Scholarship

  • Yes, there are multiple scholarship programs; I received one from the Sheridan Student Union. Eligibility Criteria was that you needed to break down your finances and must have a GPA above 2.5. I received $500 CAD for that period of time. There are so many students who received scholarships in a year; it totally depends on the donor in that year but it can be around 100 or more.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive any scholarships when I applied to Sheridan College for the January 2021 intake. At that time, there were no scholarships automatically awarded to international students because of Covid.
  • Students who maintain a certain GPA during their studies can apply for scholarships, which typically offer around CAD 1,000 per semester.
  • One of my friends received a 1,000 dollar scholarship twice during their academic journey at Sheridan, based on their performance.
  • I’m not exactly sure how many students receive scholarships each year, as the college doesn’t publicly share those statistics in detail.

Overview

I was already working in Talent Acquisition but didn't have an HR degree. I applied to Sheridan due to various factors. I was guided by a friend. Sheridan is close to all Indian amenities & public transportation is fast in the area. After all the experience I will highly recommend trying first University instead of college. Toronto, waterloo, Calgary, Lethbridge or other universities instead of college as a first choice. Choose your course wisely as per 2024 Canada's in-demand skills are Data Analyst/ Nursing/Tool & Die Maker, Power Engineering/ Electric Technician /Engineering, CNC Machinist, Plumbing, and Mechanical Grinder. These are the best courses In demand PR Pathway programs with less competition. 2 years of power Engineering course can land you a 40 -50$ Job at least. The market for IT was good post-COVID-19 but shrank a lot & the trend continues. If you have experience as a net Developer/Data Analyst/Infrastructure support you will still get a chance in the labour market.
