The University of North Texas’ programs in History encompasses all aspects of past human endeavour; it encourages students to think broadly and to attempt to integrate all of their knowledge into a meaningful whole. Each student will choose a geographic focus area for his or her advanced coursework by taking at least four courses in one of three groups: United States; Europe; Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
The programs in the Department of History prepare students for a diversity of careers in research, education, public service, and other fields both within and outside the academy. The curriculum helps them achieve a better understanding of current events and a better appreciation of architecture, art, ideas and politics.
