IIT Goa PhD Admission 2024 is currently going on. The last date for submitting an online application form and completing the payment is April 30, 2024. The institute conducts an online written test and a personal interview for the final selection of the candidates. The schedule for the written exam/interview will be informed to the candidates through e-mail separately. The classes for the Autumn semester will commence from July 24, 2024. 

IIT Goa offers a 3-year duration PhD program in 8 different research areas in fields like Engineering, Science, and Humanities and Social Science. The institute allows PhD admission to two different categories of students i.e., Full-time candidates and Part-time candidates. Students are required to have a Bachelor’s with 70% marks or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks to be eligible for the IIT Goa PhD program. Along with this, the full-time candidates must have qualified for any of the following exams: GATE/CSIR/UGC-NET/JEST.

IIT Goa Ph.D. Eligibility criteria

IIT Goa offers a PhD program in fields namely Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Social Science. Given below are the eligibility criteria for each discipline for both the full-time and part-time candidates:

Full-time PhD program- Candidates must have secured either 60% marks or 6.0 CPI in their Master’s degree or 70% marks in their Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent discipline. The course-wise eligibility is shown below in the tabulation form:

Part-time PhD program- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 60% of marks and students must have a work experience of 2 or 4 years based on their qualifying degree. Candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 60% marks or 80% marks respectively from IIT/ IISER/ IIIT/ IISc/ NIT can also apply with a minimum of work experience of 1 year.

IIT Goa PhD Selection Criteria

IIT Goa PhD admission is strictly based on the performance in the written test and personal interview conducted by the institute. On meeting the eligibility requirements, IIT Goa will inform the students about the schedule of the written test/ personal interview via e-mail separately. The merit list will be displayed by the institute on the basis of overall academic performance, performance in the written test, and personal interview rounds. 

Candidates can apply to their Ph.D. course through the institute’s online official application portal. The candidates however must have a valid GATE score/Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR or DST INSPIRE Fellowship in the relevant streams.

  • Fill the branch applying for (Fill separate applications for different program).
  • Please click on submit, you will be redirected to the login page.
  • Please login to the portal.
  • Candidates are required to fill in details as given in the form and save the form.
  • Candidates are required to out-upload the recent Passport Photograph, scanned signature copy, detailed CV, and Mark sheets. 
  • Please fill in the payment details carefully (see the corresponding section); once filled cannot be edited.
  • After filling in all the details, please Preview and Submit your application form.
