Good college to pursue bsc biotechnology in west bengal

Jis university kolkata is a highly reputable institution known for its academic excellence and diverse range of programs.
One of the key factors that sets JIS university apart is its focus on practical learning and industrial exposures.

Dislikes

Hostel facility is not good. Warden is very rude
Lifts available for student is 2 and due to a large number of students having classes at the same time, chaos happens

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Duration of the course is 4 years. Total tuition fee is INR 3.52 lakh. 10% scholarship is provided if a student have a percentile of 70 or above in class 12 board examination. Eligibility criteria is 10+2 with atleast 50%.

Big campus,good experience and different courses available

The college provides many other writers book for free and also give the pyq
The college have a big playground for playing cricket and also there are cricket pitch in the back side of the college and a auditorium where we play badminton

Dislikes

All classes have not air conditioners so during summer all students faces issues
Wifi are limited which is very very low (33 mb per day)

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

There are several fees structure for the different courses.my fees structure for the total 4 year is 400800 and the admission fee is included.There are scholarship system but not in the college those scholarship are provided by the government.

The faculty is educated and helpful enough to provide you guidance.
The college provides good extracurricular activities and campus life.

Dislikes

Some of the faculty is very rude. Hence, not very helpful.
The placement is not very prominent. You will have to self-study and earn the position.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

The course fees is increasing day-by-day but this college is providing the course at a very reasonable price, hence, it is a good deal for unprivileged people. The fees is around 5 lakhs for the whole course but the college provides scholarships for students who have got above 60% marks is the science subjects. The average package for placements is 4lpa but if you are a deserving student you can get even more.

Campus life is quite good. There are many clubs for students to join of their own liking: coding, cloud computing, cyber security, cultural clubs ( singing, dancing, drama) and Google developer club are present bringing like minded people together.
Infrastructure where I talk about only the buildings, campus, playground is actually very much nice looking. Also, our department has AC classes. So, I rather enjoy the whole look of the college.

Dislikes

We are still learning to code in Ubuntu. The coding sessions should be more up to date. I am paying a hefty fee to this college for Btech degree. It is not fair that I have to learn latest skill on my own from online.
Not much oppurtunity for internships from college. They should take initiative for our future if they are promising that while taking admission.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

That maybe the biggest con of this college. Our batch faced a massive hike in fee after starting the course during second semester. Fee increased by 50000 suddenly, which is atrocious! This kind of sudden hike is not acceptable, not every family have same kind of financial situation and this may lead to problems in continuing a student's education if this kind of hike continues to occur! There are student loans issued by banks and governments, also many scholarships available but many times few students may not be applicable for these facilities which is really unfair because if the college is deciding for a sudden hike, they should also provide scholarships! But they don't for CSE students, other departments do get some kind of scholarship, which is again really unfair

Likes

Teaching faculty is very nice and helpful
Games and sports facilities are good, sports room has every sorts of things required.

Dislikes

Too much emphasis on attendence, minimun 75% is necessary to sit for end sem exams.
No internship opportunities from the college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

On an average every sem we need to give 35k and total fee is 3.8 lakh including scholarship. If a student have above 90% in boards he/she is eligible for scholarship. Moreover if the student is of that state he/she will get state scholarships

The teachers in my department is very helpful.
I love my college campus, there is a football stadium in side the campus.

Dislikes

Our table tanis room is too short to play.
Our virtual lab do not have enough devices.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

I got admission in this college in 2022 when my course fee was 3.36 lakh and now in 2024 it's about 4 lakh. In this course you will get a BCT traning and 2 free online course from Corsera. And we eligible for SVMCM if fulfill the criteris.

Teachers promotes study beyond curriculum, faculties are friendly
Promotes sports activities better then others

Dislikes

Irregular classes, syllabus may or may not be covered entirely
Bad infrastructure like dirty washrooms, only labs has ac and some of them doesn't even work

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Tuition fee was justified but now it has awfully increased by almost 1.3lakhs. The complete cost of our batch is normal like it's not too cheap nor too expensive compared to other private institutions. No extra scholarships are provided, basic state and central government scholarships are available.

Nothing to dislike in our college... it's a well known college
In our college nothing to dislike, everything is good

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Tuition fee increase after 1st semester.complete cost of my education is around 5 lakhs.Personally west bengal students can get scholarship that is svmcm scholarship.Name of the scholarship is Swami Vivekananda scholarship.

campus is very peacefull and greenary provide best pleasure

Dislikes

Campus is too strict in the sense of uniform etc
There are no such events like cultural fests

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Fee structure of our college is 1,20,000 INR and if we go through the convener seat 35000 amount will be given by government so that remaining 85000 should be paid by ourselves. There are many opportunities for job purpose

The college comes under the MAKAUT University
The college has a big campus for students .

Dislikes

No specific management for sports, games, gym, etc

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

The fees of our college has been successfully increased last year and again hiked this year. There are some scholarships given by the West Bengal government to the students of West Bengal board. Complete cost of education including my tution fees, study materials, etc goes to 530000. Hostel fees not included.
