I choose it because I like economics after class 12 . I think that wha I love to subject it will be our favourite subject so I choose it because it is my favourite subject so it is choosy subject to me obviously.
I had no intention to become an engineer, hence economics was my choice. The faculty-student ratio is decent, batches are not huge. Exams are quite difficult to score, especially in the pre-final year. There have been instances of good students scoring 10%-20% marks in internals. The frequency of exams was as follows - 3rd sem started in August, exams started at the end of August, the whole of September, the whole of November, and the whole of December. The new semester starts mid-January. That gives you a picture I believe. Professors are generally good, and some are great. However I suggest non-Bengalis please refrain from coming here, during my viva a professor started in Bengali, and when I told them that I don't know it that well, they said "Why not, you have to know it", "Why should we not speak in Bangla in our state". It was my Viva at that time but all I wanted to say was, with all due respect professor, the medium of instruction is English, you must speak in that. But, not all professors are like that.
If you're an Econ student then placements happen from the last semester in Masters' level i.e 9th or 10th Sem. Companies like RBI, HSBC, SBI, etc recruit from JU. The average package ranges from 2 LPA to 3LPA. My plan after completing MA in Econ from JU.
The students become eligible for campus placements at the beginning of their postgraduate third semester. The names of a few companies who visit during placements are KPMG, Deloitte, Genpact, HSBC, HDFC, etc. The highest package is around 13LPA, while the average packages range between 6-7 LPA.
There is campus placement after completion of Masters degree. Companies like HSBC, Citi, Genpact and many more come every year to select the best minds of our city. The highest package is usually Rs 11 LPA and the average package comes to be Rs5lpa with almost 60% of the students been placed.
Jadavpur University is popular as one of the most elite institutions of India. It is well-eqipped with all kinds of facilities such as libraries, digital modes of classroom, wifi, seminars, exchange programs, extracurricular activities etc. The economics department boasts of a fucultu of around 15 full-time teaching professionals. The fee structure is also quite suitable. Jadavpur University suited all the criteria I was looking for in a college, and I got the subject of my choice, so there was no looking at any other college.
First of all the University is close to my home, secondly I have found this excellent faculty of economics department. Moreover, my elder sister is from same department,so I felt an extra inclination towards the University. The University also holds a good rank among the top universities of India
This University holds a good ranking in the topmost universities of the world. Always had a dream to be in its campus. It's also has best University professors in the economics course and the college offer much exposure to the international level academically.
Jadavpur University is one of the top universities in the country and the department of economics is one of the best in the state. The faculty is amazing with very qualified professors. Good exposure to extra curricular activities and a lot of insight to new and different things.
Excellent faculty, at least in the Economics department. Also, JU has a separate place in the intellectual space of Kolkata. I had some friends who were studying at JU, and from them I had an idea about the exciting clubs and societies JU lets you be a part of - the debsoc, quiz club, dance forum, music club etc. JU provides for all round development really.
