In fact, top NITs, BITS, JU, DTU, NSIT, IIITs, and such institutes are all better options than most of the newer IITs. There was no competitive programming pattern in BESU/IIEST until recently. But many students have taken competitive programming platforms such as Codechef and HackerRank over the last few years. You get a college-wise database of the number of students actively engaged in competitive coding and their results using this platform. Lastly, dont support the myth that the only way to prove yourself as a coder is competitive programming. There are other coding fields as well. In this sense, do not consider that there was no "real coder" in IIEST because there was no competitive coding pattern previously in IIEST (BESU back then). Some of the alumni of the institute are working in top companies in India and overseas and have never been interested in competitive coding.

The placement in Computer Science and Engineering at JU is good and the sem fees are less. I can save my money from the scholarship. But the academic pressure is too much. You can get supply if not studied hard

The course I chose was very demanding. Some of the Faculty of this course were very good others are just average. Faculty-student Ratio was 1:15. Faculty was very renowned, and some of them have published more than 150 research papers. Exams were connected on time, and paper used to be tough to Pass.

Mechanical Engineering is a core department and I like that. And Jadavpur University is one of the best mechanical departments in India. It has best in class faculty and labs and workshops also. The total number of students is 130 and we have many faculties to teach them.

Being the State Government University of West Bengal, students of Jadavpur University pay very nominal fees. So, expenses should not be a burden to the meritorious students. They can also get the various scholarship from time to time. Financially weak students can apply for subsidy in tuition fees.

I don't know much about other faculties. But in Engineering faculty the per semester fee is only Rs 2400/-. This is the cheapest institute in India to study engineering. As it is a Public Institute the fees are very less as compared to other private as well as NITS.
