About NDRI
The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) is one of the best institutes that are dedicated towards the development of the dairy research. The National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal was originally started as Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 1923 at Bangalore. It was expanded and renamed as Imperial Dairy Institute in 1936 and was known as National Dairy Research Institute after independence in 1947.
The huge 560 ha campus of the Institute is self sufficient in housing laboratories, offices, hostels, hospital, residential complexes, auditorium etc. Various laboratories of the Institute are equipped with the state-of-the-art analytical instruments for carrying out research in most advanced areas of Molecular Biology, Cell Culture, Fermentation Technology, Protein Chemistry, Nutritional Studies, Food Technology, Microbiology, Micro Element Analysis, etc. International students are also there the University continues to attract them for countries like Nepal, Iraq, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Egypt Holland, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Iran.
The Institute possesses an elite herd of over 1600 dairy animals including cattle, buffaloes and goats which caters to breed improvement projects and other research activities.

I had applied for BTech in dairy technology. For this course first you have to give CUET examination conducted by NTA. As per your result you can choose the college who accept your score but you have to choose that university while filling the form.

I was admitted to NDRI karnal through ICAR counseling. I have scored 410 out of 600 in the ICAR-UG examination 2020. You have to score more than 300 marks to get to this college. I have taken admission through the general category.

NDRI only accepts students to pursue their BTech degree who have cleared the ICAR UG examination with top score and rank in the PCM branch. Your rank should be within 5000 to get into this prestigious college. I scored 423 out of 600 and my rank was 3128, so without thinking anything I applied for this college and got admitted. My category was general. The admission process was fully online but you have to go to the college for physical document verification.

Main aspects of the college- Lush green campus, migratory birds, unique flora. 2 huge auditoriums. Frequent meet-ups, talks by eminent personalities ranging from all industry especially food and beverage. Comfortable hostel rooms with all basic facilities. Sports and extra curricular are greatly appreciated. Admission professional. Entrance exam conducted by ICAR. Depending on merit, student is selected. Reason for preferring this college- Ranked no. 1 among all the agricultural institutes in India for the last 3 consecutive years . Research and experimentation given foremost priority. At present, the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal offers a B.Tech degree in Dairy Technology (DT), a Diploma in Dairy Technology, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, a Master’s program in dairying and doctoral programs in the various disciplines of dairying and dairy technology.
