- It was good university for Aerospace engineering on Engineering point of view
- The beach was close by to have a relaxing evenings
- The people around were more welcoming
Dislikes
- Couldn't spend more time due to Pandemic
- The university was very vast that it was almost impossible for a Master's student to make head and tail out of it at the beginning
Campus Life
- It had two campuses. student pass for almost everything were there, from Accommodation to commuting and from restaurants to clubbing. every Wednesday was a sports day and you were free to join any game. A few were paid but made sense due to tournaments. there was more than 100 societies in the university, and almost all were active. Every Friday was a popular event and most clubs had student passes.
Accommodation
- My accommodation was in a student village. as soon as you confirm the university, they provide the preferred accommodations in the vicinity and we can pick anything we want. I preferred student village because it was mandatory to show accommodation to the loan-lending bank. I had zero challenges getting accommodation; I got the place confirmation within 2 days after my application to the student village.

- The diversity in my campus- we had people from all over the world.
- The transportation and connectivity between both campuses of my university.
- The food hubs are plenty so i was not worried about cooking in the morning.
Dislikes
- In the MSc course they don't spoon feed you, which I understand but the professors can atleast teach a little in detail if the majority of the class does not understand a topic!
- Because its a one year course, it goes by pretty quick and the struggle is real to understand, grasp the knowledge etc.
- Didnt really like my time table to be honest. atleast in my course we only had 2 full days of university- from 9am to 5pm. That's 3 very long hours of same lectures that get very mundane, would have appreciated smaller lectures and more days instead.
Campus Life
- My university has 2 campuses. one is the Singleton campus and the other is the Bay campus. both are situated on the beach and have spectacular views. they both have all the facilities like libraries, sports etc.
- Many campus festivals take place in my university, like the freshers, summer ball, etc. there are plenty of extracurricular activities such as cultural events going on throughout the year. we have hindu society, tamil society etc and celebrate holi, diwali etc.
Accommodation
- I used facebook groups to connect to university students and get accomodation in Swansea. apart from that i looked in Zoopla, sparerooms and other sites. I had plenty of options from university accommodation to student accommodations but i prefer house of multiple occupants HMO properties, they are like standalone houses with 4 bedroom or 5 bedroom where everyone is either a student or young professionals with shared kitchen.
- That gave me the opportunity to connect to a diverse culture of people. My accommodation was nearby, walking distance but i used to take the bus when necessary. My monthly rent was 450 to 500 pounds, including electricity bills, water bills, gas bills, internet and everything.
- The challenges you face are scammers so be careful and verify before confirming and sending money. as much as possible, try sending a friend or someone to physically go and see the house on your behalf. try to take accommodation near to the campus so you can walk over when required. most indian students stay nearby.

- 3. Environment of the college was very welcoming
Dislikes
- 1. Weather is always rainy and windy.
- 2. Dining options are limited within the campus
- 3. As its in wales, there is a bit travel issue with the major cities
Campus Life
- There are two campuses based on the different courses. Each campuses have the library and the sports facilities. Colleges society will plan the cultural events like Holi, Halloween etc which students will enjoy. Also, as per the interest of the students you can approach the concern society to get more involved. During my time I had a good time in Holi as Indian society organised a good holi meet.
Accommodation
- You can opt for on-campus accommodation from the college site provided by the college, which costs around 600-800 pounds per month. However, you can always opt for the private accommodation which will be cheaper than the college accommodation. Benefit of college accommodation is that you will be with the college students and it will be more easy to make connections.

- The first thing I would say is the campus, is so beautiful and very well organized, you won't be bothered around asking people where to go. The campus is very close to the beach which elevates the beauty of it.
- How can I miss the library, I spent most of my time there reading and working on group projects, it has all the necessary & Recommended books, and Silent Zone is so good.
- The University is in collaboration with very big and renowned companies like Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Mercedes Benz, GE, BAE systems, etc. Hence you get a chance to work on projects and dissertations with them.
Dislikes
- In my eyes it was good but many people would dislike the examination system because they have 75% per cent of assessments based on written exams which is the difficult part and 25 % based on assignments.
- The second part is the weekly timetable, five days a week classes and everyday 4-6 hours study, that is what most students don't prefer. If you are doing a part-time job and cooking yourself then it's not easy to manage your study for sure.
- Without a doubt professors are good but some of them really don't care about teaching and if you're not studious, you might have to suffer a lot by asking lots of doubts they are not free all the time and they have specific weekdays to solve your query.
Campus Life
- Campus experience is wonderful and mesmerising; campus was more beautiful than what we show online. Swansea Uni has two campuses, Singleton and Bay. Ours was Bay campus because of a large inward sea line is very close to the buildings of the campus; hence they named it Bay campus, and Singleton campus is the older one. both are very far to each other. Both campuses have the library, cafeteria, prayer hall, and places for food like Greggs, Subway, and Tesco Express. Singleton campus is famous for School of Culture and Communication, Social Sciences, Health and Social Care, Psychology, Biosciences, Geography and Physics, the Medical School and the Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law. Bay Campus is famous for Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Sports, Research & development. Bay campus is new and has a new accommodation facility close to the uni and has a large basketball & football court.
- There were many clubs & activities going on throughout the year. Clubs like Swansea Uni Live Music Society, Drama Society, Swansea Snow Riders, Hiking, Road Cycling, Equestrian Club, Islamic Society, Dance Club, Skate Society, Swimming Club, Golf Club, Student Union, Surf & Rowing Club, K-Pop Society, LGBTQ+ Society, Indian Society, and various sports clubs & societies, and many more I'm not aware of. You can find all the media & photos on social media like Insta or Facebook; I'm sorry, I don't have it.
- We celebrated almost all Indian festivals with my international friends, like Diwali and Holi, Chatth puja, Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, EID & Ramadhan, etc.
- We often used to go hiking and cycling to the most beautiful location in Swansea and it was the most joyful time I ever experienced. Swansea is a combination of both mountain and seaside beauty.
Accommodation
- It was studio by CRM Private accommodation; we found out it online through a LinkedIn friend. We Lived there for almost 7 months and then we shifted to another house. We spent almost 6 months there; that house we founded with the help of the student property agent—you will find out there are many.
- The studio usually is an expensive option but so much better than sharing a house because here you get your own kitchen and bathroom. Apparently more private and luxurious with all the facilities like Movie theater, Game Zone, Gym, Reading Room, Big Dining hall with kitchen for small events like birthdays and, Bicycle parking; all of this included in the Rent. and the Monthly rent would be around 700 GBP to 1350 GBP. Only one person can live there but if you are a couple (gay couples are allowed but you have to prove it), its better to live together; it would be much cheaper. Most of the Indian students whom I know were living at the studio, but if you are going for the studio, you should better pre-book it. I don't have more photos of it but you can find it online (Abode: Boutique Student Accommodation, Managed By CRM Swansea)
- Commune was so easy for us because there is a bus stop in front of the accommodation so you don't have to walk even for a minute and University bus will arrive there after every 10 min and it will take around 20 minute. Moreover, its in the center of Swansea city anything you want you can get withing 5 min of walk.
- The first month was nightmare for us because we lived in a sharing house and it was 3 bedroom, 1 kitchen & 1 bathroom for 7 people. we didn't see the house before and do not believe anyone Especially South Asian, we deposited in cash and never get back so avoid doing business in cash.

- They provide end to end support for International students as the students adjusting to a different educational structure can be challenging. They have some dedicated resources particularly workshops on essay writing, citing & referencing sources, and even adjusting to local academic expectations.
- Each and every student will be assigned an individual mentor. Where they provide guidance especially to international students related to academic, social, and even career. This helps an individual to bridge the gap between feeling like a newcomer to becoming a fully united part of the university.
- University organises a career fair every quarter of the year. Where more than 100 international, national companies take part and guide students regarding challenges like sponsorship, visa regulations, cultural differences in job-hunting practices. The Employability team helps you in building your resume/ CV, skills or what type of international experiences to highlight to national employers and they even have a largely connected global alumni network that itself says everything.
Dislikes
- The bad thing about the university is that it’s located in a small city, Swansea might not offer the same level of networking opportunities, or big-city lifestyle that places like London, Manchester, or Cardiff provide. For instance, I feel that the local job market would be less active than in major metropolitan cities, requiring students to travel way far for certain career opportunities.
- Although the university has many societies and clubs for students, the range of extracurricular activities might not be as extensive as what is found at Universities such as Kings College of London, London School of Economics, and this could even lead to students seeking very specific interests or hobbies.
- A notable trend is that more affiliated institutions have larger conferences, seminars and guest speaker and workshop programs with more influential and professional companies. Also, it is possible that events of such high profile placements as well as competition may not be as vigorous in Swansea which may reduce opportunities for interaction and learning.
Campus Life
- Swansea University has two campuses: Bay and Singleton. Bay Campus offers management, data science, and engineering programmes, while Singleton Campus offers courses in law, healthcare, medicine, criminology, psychology, and more, with over 50 programs.
- The university provides free sports facilities and on-site medical services, including one of the biggest inside university which is Singleton Hospital under the NHS.
- Celebration of cultural diversity is done, with emphasis on remembering important dates such as Easter, Christmas, Diwali, and Eid. Helping students build their careers, career fairs, trip to Parliament, and collaboration with IIM Shillong as a part of the International Immersion Program were organized. The student union also coordinates a number of country-specific committees to ensure everyone’s participation.
Accommodation
- I am living in Student accommodation provided by the university itself. There were no challenges in finding accommodation. Everything is available online on university portals and renting websites.
- My monthly rent is £410 for a large 26m square studio shared by 2 students. Best accommodation in Swansea.
- Students should go for accommodation based on their budget, sharing preferences, & dietary habits (whether veg/non-veg). For those with no specific requirements, low-cost rooms are available for around £250.

Dislikes
- Few of the subjects which were elective, didn't make any sense.
- Few of the professors were biased.
- Few students had clashes with the professor and they ended up getting failed in that subject.
Campus Life
- Swansea University is comprised of two major campuses:
Singleton Park Campus: Many institutional buildings sit within this very green landscape park which is by the swansea bay, and the school of Arts & Humanities, School of Medicine as well as School of Science are located within its premises.
Bay Campus: Located to the east of the city in close proximity to the beach, the Bay Campus is home to the College of Engineering, the School of Management and the Computational Foundry. - Each of the campuses has a well-equipped library with different study materials, journals, e-books and electronic materials, and available study areas and support personnel.
- There are very good sporting facilities including a gym, swimming pool, and indoor games area. In addition, Swansea Bay which is close by has facilities for water sports such as surfing and sailing.
- Medical and Wellness Facilities are also available.
- Freshers’ Week: This is the first big event of the year dedicated to getting new students involved in numerous activities, club fairs, and social events.
Accommodation
- I opted for Off campus, whose rent was £400/ month. I used online platforms to find it. The only challenge I faced was in finding the UK guarantor.
- Facilities included were big kitchen, lawn area, washing machine, 2 refrigrator, 2 clean bathroom. It was a big house with 6 rooms where 6 students could stay.
- It was 3 miles from college. Most of the Indian students stayed in houses like this only.

Dislikes
- You might face racism in this Country so be prepared for that.
Campus Life
They have ample extracurricular activities on campus like yoga, sports, dance and many more. The Uni has over 100 societies, one can join whichever society they wish to. They have facilities like a library, gym, pool, study spaces, eateries, etc.
Accommodation
I was living in University Accommodation which had an ensuite room with a shared kitchen. I was sharing my kitchen with 8 girls. My rent was 169 GBP per week. One can look for student accommodation located outside the campus but one will have to travel to campus for min 4 days a week. It is preferred to look for accommodation which is near to the campus as it is easy to navigate every day.
Likes
- I like the accessibility of health care tools and virtual labs.
Dislikes
- I don’t think I like the lack of assessment tools.
Campus Life
The campus has a decent infrastructure, there are many student union groups, cultural, religion and sports-oriented. There are about 80+ sports clubs and also country-wide clubs.
Accommodation
Initially, I opted for student accommodation, which cost me around 540 pounds per month, including bills. After 6 months, I moved with my friends to an individual house closer to the university. Here I pay around 360 pounds, including bills, which is very affordable. Accommodation-wise, you can say Swansea is very affordable for a student, as you will be paying around $300-500 per month. Student accommodation can be a little costly otherwise.
Accommodation
So the first year, my accommodation was in student halls, which I personally liked because it was 3 minute walk from campus. However then, I had decided to shift to private accommodation nearer to the City Centre, as that suited me best. The facilities are really accessible, but I personally would recommend, looking closer to the University Campus.
The university course -BSc Applied Medical Sciences is a fantastic pathway for those looking to go into medical research, enterprise, or study Medicine afterwards. The location is really relaxing with the beach near the university campus and the lecturers and support network is really welcoming and encouraging. I chose Swansea particularly due to the 2nd year Pathways that they provide to study Graduate Entry Medicine.
Accommodation
Accommodation is a swift process, with a wide variety of rooms of all sizes available. There are many student accommodations that are provided by the university, however, these get booked super quickly, hence I stay at a private student accommodation which is located 3 km away from the engineering campus. State-of-the-art facilities and you get rooms ranging from 90 pounds per week to at least 210 per week if you are looking at a higher range.
Well, Swansea has a good ranking with regard to Electronics and communications. Furthermore, the locale was something that was really important to me. Pursuing engineering is a tedious task hence I needed to be situated in a place that was away from all the chaos. Thus, Swansea is where I chose to be. Lastly, nothing beats Welsh people. There is no racism and everyone is accepted the way they are.
