It provides many solutions to problems facing industries in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, oil, energy and food and drink sectors.Ê It is vital to many issues affecting our quality of life; such as better and more economical processes to reduce the environmental burden, and more delicious and longer lasting food due to the right combination of chemistry, ingredients and processing.ÊÊ

Companies participating in the scheme are involved in modern process engineering and the formulation of multiphase structured materials (foods, bioproducts, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and fine minerals). Examples include Unilever, Rolls Royce, Cargill, Johnson Matthey, Imerys and Procter & Gamble BASF, Astra Zeneca, Colgate-Palmolive, Royal College of Defence Medicine, AWE, and Dupont Teijin Films.

Careers

The Formulation Engineering from University of Birmingham has a 100 % employment record. A third of the Research Engineers have been recruited by their sponsors, whilst several Research Engineers now work for companies that did not sponsor their project but support the scheme. Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must have a minimum GPA of 4.0
  • 6,6,5 at Higher Level to include Mathematics with a minimum of 32 points overall. 
  • A level Mathematics and at least one Physical Science. Students must also pass the practical element of any reformed science A levels which include Biology, Chemistry, and Physics taught from 2015, and typical offer AAB for the opted course.

Work Experience Eligibility:

  • Work Experience not required.
Indian Student Eligibility:
  • Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet following eligibility criteria:
    • Indian Standard XII will be considered for entry to the first year of our undergraduate degree programs. 
      • A*AA = 90% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra or 85% West Bengal or 95% Other State boards
      • AAA = 85% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra or 80% West Bengal or 90% Other State boards
      • AAB = 80% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra or 75% West Bengal or 85% Other State boards
      • ABB/BBB = 75% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra, and West Bengal or 80% Other State boards
