Remarks :
College is very good and freedom provided is too good and it's rare to get same quality of education and freedom together anywhere else. Its only college in India to have a PRIVATE BEACH. Mangalore city is 40min from the college by bus. If you get an opportunity to study in NITK go for it don't have second thoughts.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Btech course is divided into eight semesters.Each semester has one mid semester exam and an end semester exam. Continuous evaluation process is adapted where end semester exam constitutes to 50 percent,mid semester exam will constitute 25 percent and quizzes and assignments constitute to another 25 percent,in some cases attendance will also be considered for awarding marks.
Placement Experience :
Placements statistics are quite good in NITK.Placements percentage will be close to 90 percent every year. Average package will be around 7lpa and in 2019 highest package was around 42lpa CTC. Many top MNCs like Microsoft, Amazon, Caterpillar and many more companies about 100 companies every. Companies that come for full time employment also provide internships for third year students and some 3rd year students even receive PPO after completing internship.
College Events :
Two main fest's that are celebrated in the college are Engineer fest and Incident. Engineer is a technical fest and is celebrated in the month of October. Incident is south India's 2nd largest cultural fest and is celebrated in march month.Apart from these two their are several other programs conducted in the college for encouraging students in both cultural and sports like inter/intra department dance/sports competitions.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure is feasible and college provides scholarships for eligible student. Total expenditure for general merit student will be around 1.5lpa.Hostel fees are also feasible.Students coming through DASA entrance exam will have different fee structure.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Top 5 Sc and st students receive top class scholarship for each department which includes tution and hostel fee and also laptop cost and remaining sc/st students will receive only tution fee and not hostel fee provided that the father's annual income is less than 6lpa.Students of open category /OBC also receive scholarship if annual income is less than 6lpa.
Campus Life :
Phoenix committee is responsible for conducting sports almost every month by organising events like Freshers cup,Inter year cup,inter department cup of cricket, football and other games.DDFC and RR committee are responsible for organising cultural events. Only nit to have Solve lab which is a virtual lab which is present in NITK.
Alumni/Alumna :
NITK has very big alumni network. Alumni are very active and take part in several career development programme for students.Recently alumni have started a mentorship programme where students get oppurtunity to interact with the alumni in respective fields.
Admission :
For Btech admission one must appear JEE mains exam and shortlisted candidates list will be released and candidates are selected through common counselling process. For Mtech admission one must appear GATE exam and must have an eligible score to apply.
Faculty :
Faculty in the college are quite good and will have high teaching and technical skill. Most of them have completed PhDs from top IITS in India and IISC.Some of them even have PhDs from foreign universities. They encourage students to work on several projects that they are doing.
