Entrance Preview :
I had appeared for JEE mains 2013 examination but my score wasn't not good enough to get me admission to any premier institutes like the NITs. So I appeared for the Maharashtra state MT-CET exam, the same year and got a score of 127 out of 200. With that score I opted for YCCE and purposefully mechanical engineering because I came to know from acquaintances and from internet reviews that the senior faculty here is the best in vidarbha region. I dwell from Nagpur itself and so I gave preference to YCCE mechanical in the CAP round form.
Course Curriculum Overview :
YCCE is an autonomous institute affiliated to RTM Nagpur University and has its own distinct curriculum tailor made by the faculty members and the advisory board members(faculty from IITs and universities abroad) of the college especially for students belonging to moderate IQ level and at the same time adding value to the degree. We have free elective subjects from 6th semester which are interdisciplinary and professional electives in the 7th & 8th semester which are related to our trade. Overall the curriculum lands in between that of the university colleges (RTMNU) and that of IITs/NITs.
Internships Opportunities :
No internships were granted as such to the students by the college. One has to arrange for internships on his own through acquaintances and friends' network. Rather industrial visits are organised and it is in the curriculum as a subject with credits in the 3rd semester itself. Also students with good academic record get a chance to visit BARC, MUMBAI, in the final year.
Placement Experience :
Placement record is quite good especially in the IT sector companies. Every year approximately 50 (IT + core) companies visit the campus. TCS being the major recruiter has selected 193 students alone this year (2015-16). Till now a total of 397 students have been placed in various IT companies like TCS, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra and others. The core sector companies like Mahindra, fluor daniel and others visit late in the year. The highest package offered by any company here is not more than 6 lakhs & the average package maybe around 2.5 to 3 lakhs.
College Events :
YASH is the annual cultural cum technical fest. Various competitions like Department of the Year and technical events take place. Also sports events like cricket, volleyball, badminton, etc. are also conducted. Apart from YASH every Department conducts its own technical fest. All the events are organized by students right from sponsorship to publicity.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fees is as prescribed for autonomous institutes under DTE, Maharashtra. Scholarships & Freeships are awarded to reserved category students and EBC students. For an open candidate the fees including exam fees goes to 1 lakh 20 thousand (2013 admitted batch).
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholarships & Freeships are awarded to reserved category students and EBC students. Also students with good academic record can avail the Book-Bank scheme of the college library. Laptops are awarded to toppers (top 5) in the respective batch.
Campus Life :
Co-curricular activities include ISHRAE students chapter, SAE cart making competitions like BAJA, GO-KART, ECO-KART, EFFICYCLE, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Entrepreneurship Development Cell of YCCE, etc. Overall it's good but sure there is a scope for development.
Hostel Facilities :
Though I am a day-scholar, as per the opinion of my friends residing in the college hostel, the facilities are good. The boys hostel is in the campus itself and the girls hostel is situated outside. Bus facility is there for girl hostelites. Many students
Alumni/Alumna :
Seniors are quite friendly and very often we have interactions. They guide us in project selection, promote us in extra-curriculars, and keep us updated with latest placement trends. Alumni association is active and guides students with good academic record.
Exam Structure :
Exams are a key factor in life at YCCE. We have mid-semester examinations every 5 weeks in the odd semester and every 5 or 6 weeks in the even semester. Credit-based system is adopted and the result is in CGPA calculated by relative grading. Sometimes it

There is a blend of fresh and senior faculty here. In the beginning one might not get to learn from the senior Faculty but as semesters pass on, interaction between the students and senior Faculty increases and thus one learns eventually.
