Life at IIT KGP

Course Curriculum Overview :

Yeah the course curriculum is very good. IIT KGP curriculum is the toughest among all other IIT'S. Exam pattern is also different when compared to other IIT'S. You get a school type feeling during exams.they are also of good standard as they are set by the most experienced professors of the institution.

Placement Experience :

As we already know IIT is known for its placements . There are a lot of job opportunities both in India and abroad. Also we have a compulsory internship program . It is a part of our curriculum and it has credits. We have a seperate cell called career development cell(CDC) which takes care of our placement and Internship work.

College Events :

We have two fests . One tech fest and one cultural fest. Tech fest is known as kshitij which is the largest technology fest in Asia. The cultural fest is spring fest which is also a large fest . Students from different parts of the country come to participate in these fests.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees is also based on family income per annum. Actually it is Rs 140000 per semester (approx) but if you get a scholarship then this will reduce and if your family income is below 5 lakhs then 66% fee waiver.Normally it is slightly expensive .

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are a lot of scholarships ,but mostly they are based on income criteria . But we can also Avail loan which is offered by SBI IIT KGP Branch which offers education loan at low rate of interest.I have taken the loan from SBI.we also have Mcm scholarship which is awarded to students with family income less than 5 lakhs per annum.

Campus Life :

Yeah we have our Intra IIT Sports cup, cultural cup and tech cup all together known as general championship. We get a lot of exposure by participating in these competitions. We also have EAA in our curriculum .Also we have good lab facilities with latest equipment and goods.

Hostel Facilities :

We have to live in a hostel here , there is no other choice . Hostels are alloted by the institution . Hostels are good in infrastructure but the food is not that good . We have good facilities at our hostels , playgrounds ,neat bathrooms etc.

Alumni/Alumna :

Our college has a great and huge alumni network. We have. A separate cell called Alumni cell maintained by students of kgp who maintain relationships between institute and alumna.Actually alumns donate to the institution. Also they help in bringing internship and placement offers.

Admission :

One has to write Jee mains ,qualify, then write advanced , qualify , then if you get sufficient rank needed for my institute you will get a seat in it.So basically you have to qualify and get a good rank in advanced.

Faculty :

Very good professors , very experienced faculty , they make us understand the concept well. Most of them being quite old professors they have a lot of experience in the teaching side and the faculty strength is also very high. Approximately there are 600 faculty in our institute.

Placement Experience:

Students from 7th semester onwards are elegible for campus placements. Some of the companies that visits for placements are Google, microsoft, amazon, pwc, TI, accenture, PPEL, etc. A total of 920 recruiters were there which offered 753 offers to the students and out of them around 75-78% were placed. The highest placement package was offered by microsoft for 51 lpa as PPO to 14 students and the role was IDC. The average package is around 7.5 lpa. I am planning to appear in GATE exam and go for masters in IITs after completion of my degree where i will be persuing my further studies in transportation engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.Tech in CSE is future proof and a very good course for IT sector jobs and I was always excited working in these companies, that's why I choose the course. There are 10-12 faculties present in every department. Each faculty is M.Tech qualified and Drs. Their teaching quality is very good. 4 internal theory and 2 Lab exams happen each semester. The questions are standard, regular, and sincere students can easily pass.
