good college review with best infrastructure

Remarks :

The infrastructure of our college is really good but because there was "no class rooms left" in AIGS building we are made to sit in an underconstruction building which belongs to the aeronotical department since day one. It's being like more than 8months but still we got no class room in the aigs building. The logic authorities give is that since we are pg students and less in number ug students deserves the class more. And still there is no reduction from our fee for infrastructure.

Course Curriculum Overview :

There was a sudden rearrangement in our syllabus as this year as MA English course was made part of BCU(Bangalore Central University) because of which we had to suffer a lot. We were first given a syllabus and then changed it in between which created problem for us but hopefully from next time onwards this problem won't occur for our juniors. because of the re arranged syllabus, the first semester syllabus is huge which made it very difficult for us to cover the portions but the second, third and fourth semester doesn't seem that huge or hectic. We have to finish like 25 assignments for each semesters which is really tiring. All together the course is good but the sudden change in syllabus and university made it difficult for us

Internships Opportunities :

I'm in my first year right now and I don't have much ideas about internships. I think in my course there is no internship program. But I have heard other departments have good internship programs for their students

Placement Experience :

I'm in my first year right now and placement is for 2nd years only I don't have much ideas about it but I have heard Acharya have good placement cell but I have also heard even though they give us jobs it doesn't pay well

College Events :

There are like a lot of events and festivals taking place in Acharya. Acharya habba is the main and most important amongst all. As part of the habba there are like plenty of events taking place inside the campus. dj night, ethnic day, Acharya premiere league, fashion show, etc are just few among them

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is little expensive for students out of Karnataka and foreign students. Karnataka state students can apply through university according to their merit and there will be reduction in fees for out of state students like me the fee can be paid in four times as in each semester. For 1st semester I had to pay around 60 thousand and in 2nd semester 25thousand in 3rd semester it will be 50thousand and in 4th semester it will be again 25 thousand. I'm not sure if this is exactly how much the fee is but is somewhere around 1.6lakh for the whole course

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I didn't get any kind of scholarship or loan from the college as I didn't apply for one. But I have friends who has got it. Acharya provides many such kind of scholarships and loans for underprivileged students

Campus Life :

Acharya is the best when it comes to extracurricular activities and sports every year there are like a lot of programs happening inside the campus I'm not very sure about labs as I'm a literature student and yeah there's no language lab

Hostel Facilities :

The infrastructure and facilities of hostel is really good we can have single rooms twin sharing and upto 4 sharing in the hostel the staffs Clean the rooms daily. There's attached bathrooms and also heater facility. There is a lift and also laundry and mess facility too but for heaven sake the food is the worst served. U have to sign the register every time you go out and the in time is 8:30 in weekends can be extended to 9.and the real problem is when u have to go out for a day or two u have to print out hell lot of forms and run behind your proctor to get it all signed and also your parents will have to confirm it.

Alumni/Alumna :

They are very sweet and extremely helpful. When ever you have a problem regarding anything they are always there. You can actually count on them, academic or emotional support they were always there for us

Exam Structure :

For every semester we have 2 internal tests 1each in every month and at the end of the semester board exams. The question paper is set in three sections. 1st section consists of six short answer questions out of which we have to attend any three. This section carries 3*5=15marks 2nd section consists of three questions out of which we have to answer two questions. This section carries 2*10=20marks 3rd section consists of two questions out which one is to be answered. This section carries 1*15=15marks All together we have four Semester exams and the same structure goes with every exams.

Admission :

First of all I registered myself for the entrence exam one month prior to the admission then gave my entrence examination. I got a call back from the office saying my admission was confirmed and then all I had to do was bring all my certificates and fill up some forms and also pay the fees

Faculty :

The faculty is really good. They are extremely talented and hard working. Also they are very friendly and understanding towards the students. They receives our calls and replies to our texts at any hour and are always ready to help.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, I always wanted to study history and archaeology. They fascinate me. I was preparing for the CUET PG 2023 when I went through the University of Mysore website. Since I was unable to crack the examination, I applied here as a student. We went through an entrance exam and I was able to join here. The subject is interconnected to all other fields from science to social studies. To ace this field, one has to pass with NET exam. On the other hand also to complete a PhD. There is an institution under ASI that trains students in field work. Back to the department, though teachers and staff are helpful, communication is a problem. It is hard to follow up as they will be speaking in state language. I think if they are accepting students from other states, they should also come to a point of common language for communication. The semester exams are not so difficult. Students must study well and understand the concepts. Previous year question papers also help a lot.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My subject is MA. English. The curriculum comprises of complete history of English Literature along with great poets and their writings. The plus point is that it will help the students to learn about the different writing style along with knowledge of how to interpret the subject matter. The exams are conducted 4 Times for 2 years ie. 4 semesters. Along with these they give assignments to write to test your writing and comprehension skill.

Average package of six lakh per annum offered Every year. Students from mass communication and journalism have a plus point of getting into various fields, such as media advertising, public relations, marketing, content, writing, technical writing etc. Every year professionals from different industries come and guide the students and their final years to provide them for their industry experience. The highest package was somewhere around 12,00,000. 90% students get placed every year.

Placements are not as strong if compared to TISS. A few good organizations also come like reliance foundation, pradan and azim premji foundation and FES. Around 90% people get placed every year. My plan after this course is Phd.

The companies visit the office in the final year. For Media and Communication Studies program, the companies come mostly for the students of Advertising and Corporate Communication (Specialization 2) rather than Multimedia Journalism (Specialization 1). However, all the students are free to sit for all the companies. Some good brands come up for placements and take students every year. However, the good part is that even if you don't get an opportunity from the campus placement, you will always get an edge because of the university name when you apply to any of the companies. That's especially when you're applying in Karnataka or the Southern region.
