Course Curriculum Overview

3

MBBS course consists of 19 subjects. These are Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, forensic medicine and toxicology, community and family medicine, ophthalmology, ENT, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, medicine, surgery, radiology, dermatology, pediatrics and anaesthesia. A lot of theoretical and practical content is taught in each subject and the knowledge of these subjects is applicable to clinics and surgery. End terminal exams are held after 3/6 months of start of professional year. At the end of professional year, pre-professional and professional examination are held. Difficulty level is moderate. Syllabus is lengthy. Essential content should be kept in curriculum but unnecessary content should be removed for curriculum.

Internships Opportunities

4

1 year compulsory internship is provided by AIIMS Rishikesh hospital. 30000 Rs stipend per month is given. Students can also do intramural and extramural non-interventional research projects. They can do interships for other courses as well.

Placement Experience

4

After completion of course, 1 year compulsory internship(stipend given) is offered by the college. After completion of internship, one can practice medicine as a primary health care physician/ medical officer, or he/she can given INICET/ NEET PG to get admission into a MD/MS course. Some people give USMLE to practice medicine in US. Some people go to civil services after completing their MBBS. Thus, there are various options available after MBBS.

Fees and Financial Aid

11,450 fees has been paid by each student at time of admission at AIIMS Rishikesh for MBBS course (4.5 + 1 years). 60000 fees for mess(including breakfast, lunch and dinner) 500 fees charged per subject to appear in professional examination at the end of each professional year.

Campus Life

4

AIIMS Rishikesh has an excellent infrastructure. We live a decent social life here. We have a lot of events, cultural programmes, annual fest, sports fest and a lot more. Annual fest is Pyrexia, sports fest is INVICTA. We have a prestigious library. Sport facilities provided are badminton, chess, table tennis, lawn tennis, circket, football, basketball, volleyball etc. We have music, singing, dance clinical research clubs.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel facilities are of poor quality. They provide double rooms for 2 years and single rooms for further 3.5 years. Public washrooms are provided. Meal quality is decent but they don't have separate mess for pure vegetarians.

Admission

National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination For Undergraduate MBBS Course (NEET-UG) is essential for getting into AIIMS Rishikesh. Cut-off marks for General Category was 690/720 in the year 2023. I first applied to AIIMS Delhi but I didn't get into it due to its higher cutoff score.

Faculty

4

Every year, there are 5 batches of MBBS in various professional years. There total 19 subjects to be studied in 4.5 years and one year internship. For each subject, there are atleast 8 faculties. For each professional year, we have 2 end terminal, pre-professional and professional examination. For each subject there are theory and practical examination. Theory examination consists of two parts, Objective Paper(MCQ based) and Subjective paper. Quality and Quantity of education is excellent and level of examination is moderate level.

Night Life

3

We get free by 5 pm from lectures. We have 9-12 am clinical posting and 12-1pm and 2-5pm theory and practical lectures. 1-2pm is lunch time. After getting free from lectures, students pursue their hobbies like sports, co-curricular etc for a few hours and then they study. For hangouts, we have a lot of places in and near Rishikesh.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course from this college due to its hospital. It is one of the best hospitals in uttrakhand. MBBS itself carry an important meaning in once life if they have decided to be a doctor. MBBS teachings here is only done to keep you ready for the real worlds. Case discussions are a regular thing here. Total there are 19 subjects that need to be studied within 4.5 years. Few subjects like PSM, AETCOM module should be scrapped completely. They only waste your time as maximum contents they cover are covered in other subjects and few left could be covered separately. It goes on for 3 years with unnecessary postings and practical where you discuss house dimensions, nutrition, etc.

-Specific aspects is the pattern of exams, that was MCQs pattern and now it has been changed to 50% MCQs and 50% theory. -Curriculum is prepared in the view of clinical knowledge, there are seminars and other group discussion is also added in curriculum apart from classes - The teaching methods should be changed from PPT to ppt + black board, because it's very boring to stare on ppt for an hour - we have to pass 4 exams in one year Mid terminal exam in the end of 3rd month of academic year End terminal exam in the end of 6th month of academic year And two professional exams at the end of the academic year Exams are not difficult, the difficulty level is moderate
