- Crowd. No matter whether it's Sunday or Monday... Student and scholar are everywhere. If it's a exam time, you will see mini T.nagar (Chennai) here.
- Outing issue. We girls are allowed only for 2 hours outing in weekdays and 4 hours outing in weekend. But for boys, no limiting hours for outing. Their outing starts from morning 7 am to night 9 pm
Course Curriculum Overview :
Eventhough I am in SAS department, we still learning about coding which is required for future. I found this is really helping. Course curriculum is prepared in a way that students can get benefitted even if they are not opting for jobs in science department. We can actually prepare for IT related job. Well, every month you need to face atleast one sort of exam. And the difficulty is sometimes based on person and sometimes based on curriculum
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I am pursuing Msc integrated chemistry (23MHI00--) in VIT Vellore (5 year program with exit option in 3rd year with Bsc and in 4th year with Bsc honors). The fee structure remains same for all msc integrated courses like physics, mathematics, biotechnology which is 75000 annually with caution fees of 2000. You will pay caution fees in first year only and the good part is caution fees is refundable.
Campus Life :
The VIT library offers extensive academic resources, including journals, e-books, vit-egateway, and digital databases like IEEE and Springer, accessible for research. Classrooms are equipped with smart boards, projectors, and modern tech, enhancing interactive learning. Sports facilities are top-notch, offering football, basketball, cricket, and a swimming pool.
Hostel Facilities :
Electricity (24/7)and water facility (24/7)are good. But summers are really hot if you didn't opt for AC. Hostel fees are increasing every year. ?15000 is for admission fees which is non-refundable. Caution deposit is ?15000 which is refundable . I paid 1,29,500 in my first year for 4bed non-ac which is including admission fees and caution deposit. I paid 103700 in second year, 6 bed non-ac. So drastically ?8000 increased within a year . The quality of food is not that really good.
Admission :
I didn't applied for TNEA counselling. I wrote many exams like VITEEE, JEE mains,Manipal entrance exam. And I got a chance to grab a seat in Manipal institute of technology. But the fees is too expensive for B.Tech chemical engineering (?3 lakh+). So I dropped it. I didn't make a good rank in VITEEE. And also I barely passed in JEE mains. I applied online in the portal of msc integrated admission where I applied by filling all the necessary requirements and finally by paying ?600. No entrance exam to join in this department, purely based on 12th marks and the student has to secure above 60% in 12th board overall.
Faculty :
We are in the SAS (School of Advanced Science) department. So there are very limited professors. FFCS is very popular in VIT Vellore. But unfortunately, we don't have FFCS due to a limited number of students as well as professors. In total we have 200 credits. I completed 21 credits in the first semester, 25 credits in the second semester, 18 credits in third semester and 20 credits in 4th semester. I
Night Life :
Being an hosteller, we have to be inside in hostel block by 8.30 pm. There is an indoor paid and unpaid gym. Night library is allowed only for hostel girls starts from 9pm to 12. Outings start at 7am and run until 7pm for girls(hostellers)and 7 am to 9 pm for boys. I am not aware of locality near VIT Vellore. I know few places like zaitoon, ionox theatre, aunty mess, lava cakes, mud cupes(outside VIT) momos and Pani poori places are everywhere. DC (Darlingcanteen), food court, Arasan catering, and much more
Other Applied Colleges
Manipal Institute of Technology Bengaluru -[MIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Chemical Engineering)
Because of the fee structure (felt like expensive)
