  • At exam time, the MBA student's seat are held in the BTech side, which is in the 7th or 8th floor, and BTech side's infrastructure is totally horrible. Fan not running properly. No AC present.
  • All the BTech professor's behaviour are totally ridiculous. Their attitude is like they are doing job in NASA or ISRO and they have got Nobel for Quantum Physics, and this is applicable for all the Btech teachers!!

Course Curriculum Overview :

The overall course is very effective for the aspirant corporate managers. You can get a vast exposure in both Marketing and Finance if you're take MBA in Finance. Besides of that there MBA HR is also good, but to be honest, MBA in Business Analytics has not so much opportunities here as not so many companies come for business analytics. Most placements get from Sales and Finance.

Internships Opportunities :

While going through the MBA course, you will get to have two internship opportunities in the college, one is for WIP which is the Winter Internship Program where companies like Aditya Birla fashion and retail, Dabur, ITC and other sales companies comes with 3000-5000 per month stipend for 1 or maximum 1.5 months. For SIP, which is main, you'll get plenty of opportunities in the big companies with pretty good stipends.

Placement Experience :

Placements are quite good as most are in the Sales domain. Then comes finance with PWC, EY, RSM, Barkedia and other MNC companies. In FMCG, comes ITC, Asian Paints, Everest, Dabur, Himalaya, Marico etc. For IT company, comes TCS, Cognizant, Capgemini etc. Good marketing companies like Saint Gobain, ABP, EXIDE batteries which give good packages as well.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The semester fees in IEM is 1 lakh 60 thousand. Besides of that they charge 10-15k Rs. for additional books, shoes and dresses like uniform shirt, pant and blazer. Fees are same for all. You also get an iPad in the first semester. In the third semester, you get a chance to do a 7 days Study Abroad Program in Singapore which is jointly organised by IEM and SNU(Singapore National University), for which you have to pay them Rs. 1 lakh as a security deposit, but it is fully refundable as soon as you come back.

Campus Life :

Campus life was good. Got some good friends who are highly motivated by themselves and also motivate others. Both the education and the placements are good. What else we can expect from a college? The professors are also very polite and professional, knowledgeable.

Admission :

In West Bengal, IEM is one of the best college for MBA. They are quite affordable and there placements are overall good too. In 6,40,000/- you're getting good education, Dual specialisation: Major 1: Marketing, Major 2: Finance/HR/Business Analytics and also an industry minor: Supply Chain Management/Banking BFSI/HR Minor. You're also getting a tablet which is iPad. If your English speaking skills are not too good, it'll be surely improved after 1 year of admission.

Faculty :

In MBA 1st semester, there are 3 sections: 100×3 and for every subject there are 2 teachers. The professors are very humble and helpful, mainly Saugata sir, who teaches the portfolio management subject, Dr. Kaushik Ganguly: the best cheerful marketing processor, Arka Mukhopadhyay: the placement coordinator. In IEM 75% attendance is mandatory and it is captured through biometric. If the attendance is too low, you'll get debarred from the exam as well! There are 3 exams in each semester: 2 mid terms and an end semester exam. Questions mainly come from the syllabus which are being taught in the class. The guard in the exams are very strict, so don't expect much from hall collection. From the 3rd semester you'll start getting placement drills like GD sessions, interview sessions from the professors.

Interview Experience :

Yes! In the admission process they have few sessions on both Group Discussion and then Personal interview, where they check your anticipation capabilities, somewhat knowledge you have and your English speaking proficiencies.

Placement Experience:

We were a post COVID batch. So placement was quite slow. Our placements started from 3rd semester itself but salaries weren't good as the COVID effect was still there. But still we received placement assistance even after our classes got over and that's how I got my placement. It was more than 90% in my batch and I worked for 2 years after getting placed.
