What Students Say
Likes
- I like how the infrastructure is so up to date and maintained with modern technology equipments. There is no prolific campus in the college but we do have a huge play ground and a Gymkhana which is accessible to all students
- Our college takes initiative towards socially taboo topics which are necessary to be talked about such as mental health, women's education, Women's menstruation cycle and sanitation, gender equality, etc.
- There are total 3 buildings under college's name. The main college building where students of all three streams are situated, the law building and the international school building which is for high school kids.
Dislikes
- Management needs to be a Little more responsive as they lack in with providing info at the right time. And they also need to hire young skilled faculties rather than orthodox teachers with orthodox teaching methods
- College's crowd can be exhausting sometimes, as there are more than 9000 students and majority of them are Gujaratis and Sindhis who just show off their dad's money like crazy
- Most of the classrooms and offices have proper amenities such as lights, fans, AC, smart boards and projectors. But there are many classrooms that doesn't have AC, fans don't work, lights don't work, no dustbin and no smartboards.
Course Curriculum Overview
This course opens a wide gate of opportunities for a student. One can easily get a job or can start up a business within the country or mainly abroad. This course also makes you a member of ACCA UK which will act as a method of generating a source of passive income in future. Besides this one can easily works as a CA, Auditor, Financial Adviser, (UK)Tax officer, etc. But students may also find it difficult as it is totally as per the education system and guidelines of UK.
Internships Opportunities
We didn't really get any paying Internships, but looking at from learning perspective they do offer internships to students after every sem which are descent and can be done to earn some extra credit scores which looks good in both your results as well as your CV.
Fees and Financial Aid
Bcom(International Accountancy) or BIA is a self financed course provided by KES College and Mumbai University to the students who wish to do an integration of undergraduation and a professional course of ACCA UK altogether. Annual fees for the course is 1.50L and can be paid 4-5 installments throughout an academic year. This includes one's tution fees, library fees, registration charges, exemption fees, exam fees and other miscellaneous charges. It is a 3 years UG programme but one can do 4 years which includes their honours degree too if they're willing to.Since it's a self financed course, no reserved categories can avail benefits over it. Other colleges in Mumbai providing the same course have a similar fee structure. Besides this one has to bear extra 2500-3000 for their stationeries per semester. There are also other equivalent substitute courses than this that many colleges provide.
Campus Life
The campus life can be boring sometimes as there is no actual campus in the college. However they do have 2 nice canteens, a huge ground and a gymkhana to kill the spare time. There are many clubs and associations across different streams and courses that one may find worthy joining. Still the college is poor at hosting fests and inter college competitions. There are not much of these things happening here.
Admission
Choosing a suitable college requires you to check all the necessary parameters such as the distance, availability of course, availability of seats, the kind of environment one is looking for. Choosing a suitable college is really subjective. People residing on the suburbs of the western line of Mumbai will definitely find this college worth checking. I selected this college because it was filling in all the parameters that were important for me.
Faculty
There are almost 9000 students in the college from across all the streams and courses. And there are almost 200 faculties to cater them which leaves a ratio of 1 teacher to 45 students which is pretty decent but they need to hire more faculties as the student count increases. The exam pattern is quite orthodox, 4 exams pers year out of which 2 are internal exams (orals, viva, practicals and projects) and rest 2 are external exams (semesters). Internals are usually of 20 marks and and externals are of 100 marks. The difficulty level for these exams are quite neutral as the faculty provides with every necessary material to prepare for exams.
