Life at VNIT

Dislikes

  • The Attendence criteria is strict and some professors deduct marks.
  • The compamies visiting the lower branches like metallurgy and mining offer lesser packsge. Companies like oracle only allow cs and circuit branch students

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course is relevant but most of the students end up taking non core jobs thus it becomes irrelevant for them. The teaching methods are good. The exams are of average difficulty and sufficient time is givem. If a person pursues the branch the curriculum prepares them well. More courses can be guven as option like AI or consulting related. Like iits minor degree should also be allowed.

Internships Opportunities :

I got internship with 80k stipend in a core company. The people who get software interns get 1 lakh per month stipend. Many companies like oracle, fractal, big 4 come for internships. Projects are given and performance is judged to give ppos.

Placement Experience :

The placement are good. They can be better if the placement committee contacts more companies. 100% placement is there but the package varies. The highest package is 45 lakh and lowest is 4.5 lakh. In 7 th semester you can sit for placements. Companies like oracle, jsw, accenture, iocl, bpcl visit our college. Profile range from core, software engineers to manager and analysts. I am doing job ata tata steel

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The year wise academic fees is 133000 for 2 semesters. The same fees is applicable for any btech branch and has remained constant over the years as it is a govt college. If your family income is less than 5 lakh you get 2/3 rd fees back. If your family income is less than 1 lakh full fees gets refunded and the same applies for sc and st. Their are different merit scholarship where you get extra money.

Campus Life :

It was excellent. Many clubs to pursue any interest i like. All clubs are student run from drama to sports to astronomy there is a lot of scope. The library is 3 floors with around 100000 books. Annual fests like aarohi, axis and ig are celebrated at great scale. All festivals like navratri, ram navami and ganesh chaturthii are also celebrated

Hostel Facilities :

Great hostel for girls. The mess food is average. The hostel is affordable. Sharing basis rooms are given in first ye to girls and 2 nd year onwards personal room is given. It is inside the campus. The meal quality is ok but lots of places to eat just outside gate

Admission :

I got confirmed in MANIT but i did not like the college. Then i got selected here and it was a great choice. As i did not clear jee advanced i could not make it to iit which was my dream college. Jee main score is the eligibility criteria for my college and cse is the preferred branch. The overall admission is through josaa which is very smooth.

Faculty :

The professors are very qualified and driven for academics. 2 exams happen in 1 semester, 1 is mid term and 1 is end sem. Lab tests and class tests happen at the time of profs liking. Vivas also take place. The sxams are based on what the profs teach and previous yr papers.

Students become eligible for placement from 7th sem but the training and stuff starts from 5th sem onwards. I don't really know much about the placements since I'm not planning on doing job after graduation and probably gonna do masters in the future.

Course Curriculum Overview:

So to be honest B.E course is a 4 years engineering course and it is not that easy and not too hard also. It needs a lot of focus, hardwork and practice to clear all exams. There are bunch of students who takes admission in B.E in first year but most of the students do back off in second year or some of them gets failed and gets an year drop. B.E course can be more efficient if we follow the teaching pattern like abroads. Less theory more practicals for students to understand properly.

From 7th and majorly form the 8th semester the students become eligible for the campus placement. Every year many companies visit our college like Goldman Sachs, Google, Infosys ,TCS , oracle, etc and offer a great amount of package to many students many students even get PPO. The highest package of this year was somewhere 61LPA and the average was 9 LPA. Somewhere around 82-83% students were placed this year and with good amount of packages My plan after getting the degree is pursuing a master's degree in abroad
