What Students Say
Likes
- The coding environment of the campus is too good. People here are competitive and always strive to be best amongst their mates.
- Greenery is pleasant here. When it's raining ABV IIITM really hits different.
- Diversity. Many students here are from different parts of the country, so people can learn new things explore more from their mates.
Dislikes
- Campus Life is also fine, but not great, as students are not authorised here to conduct different culturals as it will be always the call of management
- Intime for girls, its till 1030. After that girls are not allowed to go outside. It's kinda good one but though they cannot party outside after that time, it would generate fines on them.
- Students schedules are tight, like lab hours and daily classes are long, which would make them tired till evening. And weather here is also not so good that we can walk all along and go to classes every now and then.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose Computer Science because of the opportunities that are growing in our country. Everything runs here because of some sort of involvement of computer science or it should end here only. Curriculum is designed as per real world applications only, we get to work in labs and learn what's actually going on with this subject and questions are made in that way. Curriculum can be improved if there can be a good interaction between the professors and students, as they can know problems of the students, but here professors concentrate on the class much of the time. Yes frequency is fine, it's two times per sem, but I think labs should be conducted only once, because we will have only a small amount of knowledge at the initial stage, we cannot give the lab exams directly, so 3 months after we can give labs, which would be enough time to learn.
Internships Opportunities
Amazon, Meesho are companies I heard that offered internships, I don't know clearly, but Amazon one was around 6months duration. Around 5-6% students have obtained PPO - Pre placement offers, from prestigious businesses such as Meta Facebook, Stripe, Google, Mercari inc japan, Intuit, Groww, BNY, Optum, Myntra, Walmart, Infosys,Uber and more. More than 80 companies visited institute for hiring as 6 months interns , full time employment as well as 2-3months internship. Besides this, a good number of summer interns have also received the FTE offer from the companies, they were working with. The top recruiters were, Google, Oracle, Airtel, Nuatanix, HPCL.
Placement Experience
From 3rd semester I will be able to take campus placements and as for internship you can even start as a newbie. I'm in my second year so no companies visited yet. Highest is 67 lakhs and lowest is around 7-8 lakhs per annum. 82-85% of students are placed by the end of 4th year. After getting a degree I'm planning to continue with my job for 4-5years and then planning to go for a startup.
Fees and Financial Aid
I will pay around 40K per sem that would make me pay around 90K yearly. I'm in scheduled caste category. As per ST's it's around 60-70K per sem. And for BC and OBC's it's around 2.3-2.5Lakhs yearly. This is a rough figure as it changes sem to sem. You would get financial aid after clearing JEE and getting into the college based on your category
Campus Life
Annual fest is AURORA which is totally cultural, can be any time in the year. INFOSTAV is a technical fest which is conducted every year, is is totally a technical and management skill based fest. And we have many more events like CELESTIA and URJA ,which are cultural and a sports based fest that are conducted annually around oct-nov months of the year. There are wide variety of technical and knowledge based books. Novels and story books are not that many. The classrooms are good, the board is visible from anywhere and we have projectors too. Seats are arranged in a slopy manner. We have a sports auditorium seperately, badminton, swimming, squash, table tennis, basketball, tennis courts are available and are in good condition, we can get materials in the sports room itself and we have almost all the indoor games. We have manchtantra- drama club, beat hoppers - dance club, uthaan- cultural club, SAC - social and cultural club, SGM- Student Gyan movement club, IEEE and AASF - technical clubs. And they really bring a impact on a first year, as they could explore and communicate with every other students as they join these, they learn how to work together.
Hostel Facilities
We have a cupboard in our room, and shelves, a table and a chair wooden, for every student seprately. For the first years, they may have to share room with other kids sometimes, it's just to you know make them comfortable and be extro types and build relationships and sooner in second year they will be shifted to single rooms for girls definitely, but for boys there could be sharing because male is strength is high. Meals are better for a north indian, but not even better for a South Indian. We only have veg here. They can make egg sometimes, they don't even have curd daily, they only keep it around 2-3 times a week. Registration will be already made at the time of admission itself, it's esay and simple after the admission, your rooms are already alloted before you arrive to the college, affordable even.
Admission
I choose this college since I'm aiming to grow in the Engineering and technological field. Jee is most challenging exams of India and passing this would give me the opportunity to go for a government funded college, which would help me financially. The quality of the education would definitely not compromise because of the academic environment in this college. The curriculum here is designed challenging and also ensures that students know what the industry is and how it works. Professors here are qualified and are graduated from most prestigious colleges of India. The reputation of being in iiit gwalior is great than most of the other nits and private colleges, the brand builts strong reputation. The affordability is also a factor for which I choose this college for. I haven't made it to other nits because I my jee score was not upto the mark. Admission process is applying for JEE mains only. cut-offs and all would be varying everyyear based on the paper toughness.
Faculty
I guess it's around 1:20 students. Yes the relationship is approachable, they can contact them in the weekdays and go to their cabin if they have any issues with them. Jeevaraj Sir is best for mathematics, he is clear with his concept and concentrates on every student in the class. PK Singh sir, Godfrey sir are best. There is no such faculty like that here, who are disliked, yeah they are strict though. As per the exams we have 5-7 subjects per sem and 2 of them are tough and 2 are moderate and other 2 would be esay peasy. Yes they are relevant to the curriculum and they ask what they teach.
