  • Some teachers do partiality on the basis of favouritism. I saw many teachers who give marks to their favorite students even if they write wrong answers in their exam answer sheets.
  • Classmates are very childish ,immature ,competitive in every aspect. Other than that academic aspect is good.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum includes bothe the academic knowledge of the subjects and laboratory practices. Curriculum in my university equip me well with real life applications such as performing laboratory tests such as TLC, DLC, Gel electrophoresis, plasmid isolation, etc. Its completely worth it to pursue biotechnology from chandigarh university as lab assistants are also well trained and help you out with all the necessary help required to perform an experiment.

Placement Experience :

During 5th semester you become eligible for campus placement drives, there are several companies that visits chandigarh university campus and you can fill forms for that on the basis of eligibility criteria they have and can appear for their drive that have steps such as test, GD, Personal interview. The average package in campus placements is 5 lakh Rs per annum. Highest package in Biotechnology department is around 12 lakh Rs per annum. Very few students opt for placement after graduation as most of the students plan to puruse a masters degree after that and several others were preparing for government exams. My plan after this degree is to pursue an Msc in biotechnology itself.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I got 15 % scholarship during the admission on the basis of cucet test, that is the chandigarh university scholarship test. Scholarship is also provided on the basis of percentage scored in class 12.When i joined the fee per semester was 62000 Rs per semester and it definitely get increased for new batches for an amount upto 15000 Rs. For me its continuosly been 62000 Rs per sem - my scholarship amount(15%). Also there is 2500 Rs Examination fee. You can score upto 50 percent scholarship in the cucet and get a seat of your choice in any branch. But twist is you have to be academically oriented to maintain the scholarship during 2nd and 3rd year. You have to maintain minimum 7.5 CGPA . If you score less than that your scholarship is gone. Chandigarh University also provides loan assistance for students who wants to pursue any UG, PG degree here in the campus. Along with ghat there are semester exchange programs as well, if you want to opt for that usually occurs during 5th and 6th sem.

Campus Life :

My campus experience is good, overall. There are several events that occurs hera such as Cu fest, tashan nights in which university hosts several bollywood and punjabi celebrities. Also there is a seperate department named Daca that is department of arts and culture that includes club activities such as fine arts, dance, si ging, modelling, etc. A seperate hostel league is also organized in hostels in which students can show their invidual talents. Infrastructure is so good and campus is beautiful and large that you cannot even walk the whole campus daily.

Hostel Facilities :

Each room in hostel is four seater . Washrooma are seperate in which tere are 2 bathrooms and 4 washrooms for around 20 girls. Meals are very delicious as they are prepared professionally and managed by chandigarh university itself. Menu have wide variety of recipes for different cultures and seperate menu for foreigners. Registration for hostel is done at the time of admission , is done in hostel itself, its affordable as it includes meals, accomodation and saves your travel time. I had left my hostel and currently renting a PG in kharar near Chandigarh university. Room rent per bed is around 5000 Rs + meals (2500 Rs) per month+ travelling (40 Rs per day).

Admission :

I applied for Amity University , Noida and Dav College, Chandigarh. I didn't got seat in Dav as i was a dropper and punjab university do not consider a drop. If i talk about Amity University i found the atmosphere overwhelming according to me and found that Chandigarh University is more disciplined than Amity and can contribute more to my overall development during the course of time in which i will graduate.

Faculty :

Faculties are easily approchable, they are well trained and disciplined about their subject. Student to teacher ratio is 50:1, teacher explains topics thoroughly and also provide us with study material such as ppts, youtube tutorials, book references, etc. My favorite faculties in my department are Jashanpreet mam and Nanamika thakur mam they both teach concepts with application based approach, i gained deep knowledge in cell biology and Immunology because of these teachers. The faculties i disliked most are Sonia sisodiya mam and Anuj poonia sir because even after being highly educated they do not teach well at all and boast about their college from whi h they studied such as Anuj poonia sir always boast about his IIT degree but even after that he didn't taught a single concept well. There are 3 exams in one semester for academic subjects -Mst 1 , Mst 2,Final exams. And 2 Lab exams - Lab mst practical & final lab practicals.

Other Applied Colleges

Amity University | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Biotechnology)

Chandigarh university has greater exposure to world class education and for overall personality development as well, chandigarh university is much better than amity university.

Placement Experience:

The eligibility criteria for getting the placement is you must have attendance of more than 75% and have a good CGPA in your academics. From the final year are from the 5th semester we are eligible to get the campus placement sum of the companies of biotech department for placements are IKS Infotech Lal path lab etc comes for placement program. Highest package in biotech b.sc was of 640000 and lowest was 2 lakhs . Most of the student do not take placement after BSc because they want to go for the highest studies like to do MSc. And I am also studying in MSC after my completion of b.sc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because pgimer itself is a big name and graduating from such a college open big doors for your career the curriculum I feel is a bit more of a casual study outlook like when we study we study but the max study out of the whole study hour is just about 3 hours and rest of the time we r free I feel like the assignment hours should be reduced with the study hours Our exams our held yearly and they are average level based a child with a good academic performance or below also can score good with hardwork
