- The hostel capacity is limited and the mess food is not of good quality
Course Curriculum Overview :
Life Science is a fascinating research oriented course with a high scope of being a researcher. It has real world biotechnological applications, it's yet a new course with a lot of different applications in different fields. But basically, it is research oriented The course can be improved largely if they add more laboratory classes instead of theory classes in the curriculum. Exam take place frequently and the difficulty level of questions is also good.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
We need to pay the fees semester wise. During the first semester it was around Rs.18000, in the second semester the fees was a little less, it was Rs. 13,334. I'm currently in third semester and second year and the fee for third semester was Rs.17,567 around including all the fees. It may vary for the students taking admission this year but round figure would be the same. It's affordable compared to other collages and the course of Life Science with laboratory facilities costs a lot. They do not provide any scholarship themselves but people can get personal bonafide and scholarships. Fee deduction happens in the case of person having bonafide in ST/SC category.
Campus Life :
The campus life of science student is definitely not very fun but yeah we enjoy a lot within the classroom group and also, I have participated in many competitions and functions so it's pretty great for me but it completely depends on how you go and reach them, they will not reach you. There is a student union, and ABVP cell of CUJ is also there. Also many other literally groups and cultural groups are present which are run by the students themselves.
Admission :
I applied to many other colleges in Jharkhand itself and also outside Jharkhand. The colleges outside Jharkhand became difficult to persue as the distance affected a lot and also the affordability. So I had to leave DU and BHU even after getting selected. I rejected colleges of Ranchi University and also the autonomous St. Xavier's college as CUJ was the best option in Jharkhand
Faculty :
Faculty to student ratio is average but it's not bad. I personally liked the faculties of my department life science. Dr. Hena Firdaus, Dr. Praveen Kumar Sharma, Dr. Ashish Sachan and rest all the faculty of life science is great. Also my minor paper chemistry faculties Dr. A.K.Padhi, Dr. Simon, they are great too.. they teach really well and are experienced in their work. There are no faculties I dislike, it's just that they all have their different ways of teaching. They take 3 sessional exams, which can be a test of 20 marks or any assignment or presentation. Best of two is added to the result of semester exam which is of 60marks to take the final result. Course curriculum is relevant and they are teaching excellent
Other Applied Colleges
Delhi University - [DU] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Biochemistry)
I was selected but it was far from my home so couldn't afford to go.
