  • Stella was strict about students leaving earlier before the closing bell.
  • Does not have street vendors outside college unlike MOP which had mushroom.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The papers were easier to handle with the help of my faculties at Stella Maris College, since the college is autonomous it has the ability to select chapters in each subject concerning. The papers were balanceable and understandable which made easier for both lecturers and students. Each subjects gave better understanding that helps to relate with real time examples such as Business Ethics which speaks about CSR intiatives which made it more interesting. At Stella qualitative papers required more duration for examination than quantitative papers. The lessons were comprehensible and eliminated memorization.

Placement Experience :

Placements preparation starts in the mid of aug i.e 5th sem. Every individual who have scored 60 or above 60% are eligible to apply for placements. But everyone applying cannot sit for placements unless they attend 3 out of 4 weeks mandatory training arranged by the placements officers. 99% of the co are conduted within campus and only one or two companies make arrangements at their locations. Stella aims at giving equal opportunities to everyone so no individial is permitted to sit for placements once they are selected. Some of the co include, Deloite, E&Y, ICICI, Zomato, Accenture, WellsFargo(WF), World Bank, Barclays, KPMG, HP, BNY Melon, ect. and apart from these some schools and NGOs. The highest package co I had attended was Barclays worth 9L annually and and avg pack of these ranges from 33k to 38k. Only a few of the co expect candidates to have 75% or + and no present backlogs. Most of them were virtual, and includes three phases- app-GD-Interview. My plan! I am selected at WF.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I am a shift one student so I'm less aware of shift two. Like I mentioned earlier my yearly fees was around 26000 rs. On top of that my fees was comparatively less year after year, odd sem were like 15000, 14000, 13000 and even sem were like half of the odd i.e 7500, 6700 and 8000 as it was final year, these were all term fees and I had to pay some where around 2000 each sem as exam fees. Shift two fees are double the fees of shift one yearly. Stella aims at offering education across all classes of the society, thus it offers ample scholarships to people who couldn't afford the fees. It offers two kind of scholarships to students, one of them is Govt scholarship (7000) and the other one is private scholarship where students are accepted based on criteria, for instance TVS. Placements cell at Stella works tiredlessly to make its students get placed at reputed co like Deloite, WellsFargo, Accenture.. that has best yearly package by providing adequate training. I'm selected at WellsFargo.

Campus Life :

Stella embraces all kind of religious festivals, it respects all traditions and customs and give equal importance to them. Stella invites speakers of high knowledge in their respective fields for each festive celebration. There are 116920 books in total at Stella's library and a few thosands in journals, thesis etc.. where there is one main liabrary which contains all department books, refrences, fictional and non fictional books. At Stella each class has its own projector and department laptops. It is compulsory for each student to engage one sort of non and performing clubs such as rotract, NSS, NCC, RRC or YRC. Apart from this there are some more clubs like western, classical and fork dance ect.. There are some sports club like badminton, hockey ect. The management works with the help of students union Stella.

Admission :

Admission at Stella was quite easy. To apply, Visit the official website provided by the the College and click the admission tab to select application form. Website is user friendly, Each info is given comprehensively in the form of prospectus along with admission procedure including eligibility criteria. Application fees difers from shift 1 to shift 2, for shift 1 they charged 150 and for shift 2 some where around 500 since shift one is aided and shift 2 is self financing. Shift one students are selected based on merit and reservation and shift 2 are selected on merit based. Like any other colleges there are 6 odd and even semesters where examinations are conducted in nov and april. Each exam is conducted for a duration of 3 hours. Apart from this continous assessments are happened at a certain intervals of each semester. One good thing about CA is unlike other colleges where students are obliged to attempt two CA, at Stella, students enjoy the privilege to select the best out of 2.

Faculty :

All of my faculties has complete knowledge with respect to their role. They were generous towards the students and were truly sybject matter experts. They ensured to make us understand clearly in their best possible way and was always available whenever we required.

Other Applied Colleges

Women's Christian College - [WCC] | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com]

Unlike Stella , wcc does not have this course in shift one alongside the fees was high

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) due to the core subjects are very much related to the subject of accounting and finance so that i can concentrate on my core ones. Other than this there are Bachelor of Commerce (Computer applications) and Bachelor of Commerce (Corporate Secretaryship) which is been newly added in the current academic year.
