Course Curriculum Overview :
This course has a holistic approach towards the business world where we learn about micro and macro economics, business economics and professional level accounting and financial management and advaced level mathematics. This course also has advanced cost accounting, management subjects and advance taxation which gives a comprehensive view for the students who would opt for management studies in their masters.
Placement Experience :
Placement opportunities are really good, companies like kpmg, deloitte and E&Y are regular visitors of the placement hall and have good packages but they have limited job roles, the most being the tax consultant. Although not all the students get to sit in the placement due to 2 reasons. 1. They might pursue CA and CS or CMA. And it might be that their articleship will be going on at that time. 2. They might have back papers. This sounds a bit odd, but having back papers in Calcutta University is a common site. Believe it or not B.Com in Calcutta University is much tougher than other universities.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
As this course is under the University of Calcutta, students will need to check on their scholarship availability and the college a gujrati minority college, provides student allowances and scholarships for gujrati students. Yet the college will not disregard the plea of tla student who needs financial assistance, but they might have to run around a little bit.
Campus Life :
The infrastructure is students come here for, we have two four large halls and it has a aura where you can spend the whole and not complain about it, we have a games arena will many indoor and outdoor sports, the college is fully air conditioned, and there are frequent debate competitions and sports competition where anyone can participate. We have frequent quiz competitions too.
Admission :
The application fees for the course was 500 rupees at my time and it is ever increasing. Although the cutoff for the morning section was pretty high around in the 90s, when you measure the pros and cons of the college, its pretty explanatory.
Faculty :
Most of the students pursue CA and CS professional courses in their college time and do not appear in classes. This gives students a very good opportunity to students to talk to professors and tell them about their problems. The faculty members' approach to teaching is a bit different, they are very frank and mostly all of them have the same nature of understanding where the students might have a problem, they will teach that topic in greater depth and with better real-life examples. Qualifications of faculty members are something to gaze upon again and again, all the teachers either have their master's or PhD done from very reputed universities in the world including the Harvard School of Graduates and IIMs. We have a huge Library where books for all the semester and for all the students are available and teachers are present every day according to a schedule to help you with any doubts that arise.
Other Applied Colleges
City College of Commerce and Business Administration | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] {Hons.}
The college has a high reputation for ragging and political student council with very little to no placement and internship opportunities.
