- I liked the College Campus a lot , It is a lush green campus with serene nature and wildlife within.
- The college is situated in the heart of Surat, It is the prime location and everything is available nearby
Dislikes
- Lack of Infrastructure, The college is under renovation for past 3 years so a lot of construction is going on and around the campus.
- Poor maintanence of Hostels. Though the hostels are old and have quite good infra, but they haven't maintained the structure well
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum set up by our institute is quite apt to the on going changes in Chemical Industry. All of the important topics like MTO, CRE, HTO, FFO are taught to the students on timely basis , specially in their Second and Third year such that they are able to get a broad and better idea when they reach in their Final year of Course. Few improvements which could be done are regarding the labs, More of Software learning based labs need to be arranged , nevertheless most of the faculty try to implement it but due to lack of timings , it eventually doesn't get scheduled. Regarding the exams , few internal assessments are taken Bi Monthly while the Semester Exams occur in a span of 4-5 months. Overall the syllabus and schedule of the Exams are well prescribed. The circullum gives quite freedom to go beyond and learn in depth as per your interests
Internships Opportunities :
The training and placement cell ensures good companies are invited for placements , internships and ofc PPO. Companies like Mastercard, Visa, Deloitte, BPCL, L&T visit the campus and provide with paid internship as high as 1.5 lakhs per month. The roles offered vary branch to branch as well as company to company. Offers are giving as SDE Intern, Biz Dev intern, Research Intern, Process Intern, etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fees are quite stable over the past 5 years with about a 7% hike in about 3 years span. The overall fees accounts to about 8,00,000 for all four years including Hostel and Mess facility. This includes mostly all the charges. There are a lot of scholarships available for less Income based students , which are regularly updated on the College website. Please visit the college website for more information regarding Scholarships. There are no campus employment opportunities as such since it is a government college. You are required to write Govt exams to qualify for any sort of campus employments.
Campus Life :
The annual cultural fest Sparsh occurs in the month of March , with famous celebrities like Shaan, KK, Sachin Jigar and many more have performed in the previous years. The technical Fest Mindbend also occurs during Feb - Mar with Robowar being the prime focus. The Chemical Engineering Society is one of the best society of the college , which organized an International Conference in 2023 with participants from Indonesia, Kazakhistan, Nepal and many more. The extra curricular life is very much live and colorful, with multiple events being organised around the campus . We have good sporting culture in the campus with Badminton, Swimming, Cricket, Body building , Lawn tennis and many more Inter NIT winners. With more the 25 student run clubs and societies , students have a wide range of opportunities to explore during their college life. The Library is one of the Best libraries as compared to any other NIT's in India, with more than 1,00,000 books and air conditioned 3 floor library
Hostel Facilities :
The hostels are quite old but are ok to live. Initially you may find it a bit difficult but over the period it becomes a part of your routine. The quality of food has improved over the years, though the development and work process is slow but there has been a significant improvement. The hostel and mess facility is very affordable with just 55000 Rs for both mess and hostel throughout the year. You even get refund of the extra fees paid. The registration and everything occurs through College MiS website. Overall a lot of developments and new hostel structure are being done and the work is quite commendable.
Admission :
The only eligible route to get into this college is JEE Mains. For Computer Science course , the cut off ends at about 15k rank while for Chemical it is about 38k while for Civil it is about 42k. These ranks are of General Category All India, please visit Josaa website for category ranks and past results. The whole registration and admission process is done online via Josaa only. All the reservation benefits are provided. The exam JEE Mains is conducted twice a year and it is a quite tough exam with about 8 to 10 lakh candidates per year. Initially the admission process had a few hiccups, but know it's quite smooth process. While reporting offline to college your are required to bring all of the important documents mentioned while admission.
Faculty :
The Faculty members of Chemical Engineering Department are quite qualified. Most are PhD students from prestigious IIT's. They are well versed with their area of interest and teachings. You can expect few of the Best faculty in Chemical Engineering in India. The Faculty to student ratio is low , you can expect 38:1, but each and every faculty has their PhD scholars who are quite helpful. The faculties are quite friendly and open to assist you whenever required . All of them are well equipped with technical as well as practical knowledge which they always try to impart to their students
