- Campus is huge and beautiful. Good and interactive seniors/mentors who always help and support juniors.
- Some professors and faculty are very engaging and use effective teaching and mentorship methods.
Dislikes
- Administration procedure is a hassle. Office people always make you run around to get simple things like a signature.
- Hostel rules and regulations are too tight and it feels like a jail. Administration does not pay attention to student needs sometimes.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Electrical and Electronics Engineering as my course as I saw that VNIT gives good opportunity and scope for pursuing research and a well-developed career in core fields. The curriculum helps in the advancement of engineering knowledge. Teaching methods could be improved to include more recent techniques and skills. Exams are moderately difficult and enough to assess the understanding of the student in the subject.
Internships Opportunities :
Wells Fargo, BNY Mellon, CITI, Hilti, John Deere, Bajaj, ZS are some companies that came for internship offers. Stipend was on an average of 60000 per month. It was a three month internship that gave us real world experience in our fields.
Placement Experience :
From the 5th semester, students are allowed to sit for internship programs offered by various companies. From 7th semester we are allowed to sit for placement on-campus interviews and tests. Big companies like Oracle, Goldman Sachs, Google, CITI, Hilti and many other core companies like ITC, Bajaj, TATA Elxsi, etc appeared. Average package is around 10-12 lpa. More than 50% of students got placed in our batch. I got a campus placement in Deloitte USI.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tuition fee is affordable. Its a bit over 1 lakh per annum and it is pretty decent compared to other colleges. A lot of scholarships are offered for students who belong to Maharashtra and who do well in their course. There are a lot of internship opportunities that can be availed over research facilities in the campus. There are a variety of placement options available for both core and IT job seekers.
Campus Life :
VNIT has great club facilities that help students to grow culturally and mentally. I had a great experience and time with all the clubs I was associated in. HallaBol- dramatics society, Mag.com- literature club, IvLabs- robotics club are among the biggest. There are so many other clubs to improve your hobbies. Library has lots of books on curriculum. There is a big sports complex and regular sports events are held.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facility is not quite as good as other aspects. The wardens are arrogant and rude and do not listen to student grievances. Mess food quality is quite low and just barely enough to survive on. Girl's hostel in particular is a jail and there a lot of intime and security issues.
Admission :
VNIT's applications forms are available after JOSAA counselling is over. Cut-off is based on rank obtained in JEE Mains. For EEE, the cut-off closing rank for 2020 was 17666. There are reservations for state quota ie Maharashtra. The admission process could be more hassle-free due to a lot of administrative paper work involved.
Faculty :
Faculty to student ratio is 1:50. Faculty are well-knowledged about their subjects and have keen interest in research and development fields. But some professors do not know how to impart that knowledge to students. Some professors teach very well and help in holistic development of students. Final Year Project faculty heads are very interactive with students and give them full support.
