  • Food menu in the canteen is very limited, and the food is not very good
  • Some teachers are not good in the economics department

Course Curriculum Overview :

Economics is a subject that you just can't understand without having practical application to the real world, and the curriculum made sure that we were taught exactly that. Even the faculty made sure that we know how to the textbooks with real world scenarios. One change that should be made according to me is that students should be allowed, and given opportunities for internships.

Internships Opportunities :

There were no specific that recruited, but big names like MPL did come to recruit. Other than that, there were startups like TWF Flours and Global Weddings that came to recruit. Mostly, these were business development and social media marketing roles. There were not a lot of companies to choose from. One had to look for companies on their own for internships

Placement Experience :

There were not really good companies hiring for economics hons students, only in sales and management roles. Mostly startups came to recruit, which is why most students from our batch didn't sit in the placements. Average package offered was 4.5-5 LPA. I personally did not sit in the placements since I already had a job in hand that I found on my own, through a friend.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

My program's fees was about ?7000 for the first year, about ?7500 for the second and about ?8000 for the third. The government does give aid to EWS students. For internships, students will have to majorly look by themselves for opportunities, since the college does not provide them. Maitreyi does not have a lot of scope to earn while studying.

Campus Life :

The annual fest of rhapsody is really good and happening. Maitreyi during fest season is very happening, and everyday there was a department fest happening. During our time (batch of 2023), we only experienced 1 fest, which took place in February. The library was pretty huge, with a versatile collection of books and great internet connectivity. There were a lot of societies to choose from and they used to conduct a lot of activities throughout the year- departments and societies both.

Admission :

During the time of my admission, admissions were on the basis of class 12th best of 4 score. The eligibility was between 97.5-94.5% for economics hons. in 2020. You could easily download the form on DU's official website, and a minimal fees of 100 was taken. This was during the covid lockdown, hence everything was shifted online. Otherwise, you have to go to north campus office of DU to physically buy and fill the form, which can be shifted to online mode in my opinion. This happens in may, usually.

Faculty :

The student- teacher ratio is 60:1, but 20-30 students attend a class, so I'd say that you will get Personalised attention, if required. The teachers are extremely cooperative and approachable, and will clear all doubts. The only bad part about the faculty was that a teacher left the job and they had a hard time finding a replacement for her, so things were a little messy, but the new teacher was great, and the best one in the faculty

Placement Experience:

Students typically become eligible for campus placement in their final year, starting from the 5th or 6th semester. Several reputed companies visit Delhi university such as Times Of India, NDTV, Wipro, TCS and many more. The highest package for English hons graduates can range from 8-10 lakh per annum. Generally, 60-80% of the students gets placed. After getting the degree some students prepare for competitive exams like UGC-NET, UPSC etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to do civil services preparation that's why I chose the BA program. This course gives me insight and knowledge about all those subjects which are needed further. My classes start at 9:40 a.m. and end at 2-3 p.m. Overall, there is no need for improvement in teaching. All the teachers are good and helpful.

See In our Admissions process We get to See many changes in the Admissions process and then the Education process like implement of New Education Policy 2020 which makes us deal with so many subject which are 7 in number and but talking about my college the teaching methods of the faculty members mainly based on the orally explaining the things or teaching through visuals like PPT which some How help us to understand the in a good and proper way. Talking about Curriculum through NEP2020 it give exposure to learn the different different subject according to our wishes and it also help ua that we are not only engage with one subject we are learning many thing from one places so I am happy with Curriculum and faculty members of my college.

After 4th semester, students can sit for placements. One of the companies is ZS which selected 8 students. The highest package is 10 Lakh and the average is 6Lakhs. Almost 20% of students get placed. I want to pursue an MBA.

Third-year students are eligible for campus placement opportunities. Some of the companies that came to our college are PlanetSpark, RSVI, IDFC First Bank, FNP, Zoconut, etc. The highest package offered for our course is around 10LPA and the average package is 4-5LPA for positions like a translator, editor, content manager/creator, etc. However, the placement percentage of our college/course isn't that high. The average percentage of placement in our college is approx. 40%. My plan after completing the degree is to have a job alongside my Masters.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Choosing political science was more of my passion for going deep into the roots of society by knowing the technical know-hows of the polity as well. And yes this course is also a tool that aids students preparing for civils. So for me opting this was a mixture of both reasons. The student-faculty ratio if spoken about, approx 250 students in the dept. and there is a team of 10 teachers. So yeah it is 1:25 approx. If we talk about the qualifications, all the faculties here without exception are highly qualified. One gets to see a combination of professors, associate professors and assistant professors here. But all of them are well versed in the respective papers. The teaching method used by most of them is great and excellent, while for the remaining some of them it's up to the mark. Exams are taken by DU as the authority and the college just has to conduct them. So yes they're quite regular and on time. About passing them, I would say, the level here is moderate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

To prepare myself for civil services examinations, I chose the combination of history and political sciences in the BA Programme. The student ratio in my college is mostly male-dominated. But people come here from all the areas of the country, so it's 65:35. The faculty is great and knowledgeable and despite not much high-quality architecture, you will find the professors very intriguing. The term exams were according to the annual calendar released by the university and even if you seriously study for 15 days you can pass easily.

I am in the fifth semester and there is no student placed in my course yet because of that there is no highest lowest or average package to tell. There were companies offering internships but most of those were offering either content writing kind of internships or marketing internships I personally am not interested in any of those so I never tried for the internships.
