  • The low level of technological advancements and facilities provided to students is what I disliked the most... They should include one more year for research for us BA students as provided by other 1 tier universities...
  • The teachers could be more puntual on completing their syllabus on time.... University should also focus on creating placements and providing internships....

Course Curriculum Overview :

The Allahabad university provides combination of 3 sujbects in a time duration for 3 years... And in which one has to be dropped in 3rd year....As already said I would like to have 1 more year of research at least for one subject... As someone who's preparing for civil services ,the subjects and curriculum would be a great advantage to them...

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

there's no much campus employment in Allahabad university (Almost not considerable).... But the affordability is appreciable... They do provide for scholarships if you score above 60+ in 2nd and 3rd year and if your family income is less than 2-3 lakhs per year (not sure about the exam amout)... Many of my friends have opted for this scholarship too...As a BA student, roughly 4300 is the charge for 1 year and nothing else... Also they don't give much asssignments and projects so surely you don't have spend much...

Campus Life :

There are no much cultural fests SADLY... Don't expect such fest being held in DU or other private universities in our Allahabad university:(.... But there're other important seminars with chief guests such as IAS and IPS held time to time which you can be a part of... Competitions too held in many different areas.... Coming to library facilities, it's absolutely FREE...it's one of the best library experiences with me also it is well air conditioned and you can stay there till evening... The classroms facilities are better in BSc department compared to our BA bc it's newly build and upgraded... Many classes are having air conditioners and smart boards but no such thing in BA departments... YES, there are many social groups and clubs which you can be a part of... And seniors are much friendly...

Admission :

Students can apply through CUET for ug and pg courses ... There's no entrance exam for UG and PG students... Just go for CUET... The competition is far far less than other top 1 tier central universities out there ... Plus if you have reservation benefits then no need to worry... Last year the cut offs were even less compared to its previous year... 450-500 above in general category will make you eligible... So acc to that anything less than 450 goes for obc sc sts..... The application form after getting the CUET score cards on the official website is also much affordable compared to du bhu cu jnu and other universities.... After the cut offs provided by the university fill the final forms and do one time payment.... That's itt!!

Faculty :

The student-to-faculty ratio at Allahabad University is 55:1...The University of Allahabad has a wide array of faculty members comprising 300+ teaching staff and more than 550+ PhD research scholars... As a new student I was shocked seeing 100-150 students being the class size... The teachers often take 4-5 months to complete their whole syllabus...And to be honest there is no much interaction between teachers and students atleast in BA faculty in my knowledge... There are no semesters but annual exams... But at the same time there are many helpful young lady teachers whom with you can communicate freely and approach them for queries....

Other Applied Colleges

Delhi University - [DU] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Political Science)

I opted for this university as it's one of oldest central university following a prestigious alumni list... The course fee is affordable including the living cost living in that area... Also this is the closest central university from my hometown...

I wanted to prepare for civil services, which is why I did B.A. from a good college. I got good subjects here like history, polity, and Hindi, for which the teachers here provided good preparation. In this preparation, I have built a good foundation in history and polity, which will contribute to my success in civil services. The teachers' teaching method was good. They did not take the class just to study but they paid more attention to explaining.

The study of course is well and fine the way teachers tell you everything is so good you can understand each and everything there teaching methods are so good I don't think there is a need to change in teaching methods. The duration of classes is 45 min. Duration of exams in objective and subjective paper is 1:30 min and 3 hours respectively.

My course- is Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology. BHU has the largest faculty strength (34) of AIHC in the whole nation. The student-teacher ratio is also good. And are quite easy to pass. Midterm exams and semester exams ate the two main tests.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose political science because the following politics is my passion and political science is quite helpful in preparation for UPSC CSE. Talking about faculty: the student ratio, there's approximately 1 faculty for every 10 students. Faculty qualification is something which needs to improve a lot. Teaching methods are ordinary with very few exceptions, as far as my course is concerned. Term exams are usually held on time and the difficulty level is usually between easy to moderate.
