NIT srinagar

Dislikes

  • Small size of campus and sometimes dealing with strict attendance is a hassle.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Overall the course curriculum is updated according to the NEP (National Education Scheme)scheme . It's just that in the first year we have to study lots of annoying subjects like engineering drawing which is quite annoying.

Internships Opportunities :

The intership opportunities are easily available here since we have vacations in winters unlike other colleges we have pretty much no competition in availing internships due to that reason and also they are made compulsary to be done in 3rd year

Placement Experience :

The placements season this year is just average because of the recession going on but overall the students who got placed have got average package of around 13 lakhs per annum in the computer science branch

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are three fee structures depending on the annual income of the parents Below 1lpa students basically have 0 tuition fees . 1-5 lpa students have to pay 1/3 rd of the tuition fees (around 23000) per semester Above 5lla students have to pay the complete fees (around 67000) per semester

Campus Life :

The overall campus life is great. Living in hostel with my friends here is a wonderful experience You are in srinagar so scenic beauty is in itself a plus point you have plus the plus point though campus area is small infrastructure is great

Hostel Facilities :

In the first year students stay after Manasbal hostel which is the best hostel available in the college there are six students in each room. With 4 almiras and 6 beds(4 are single beds and 2 are foldable beds)

Admission :

The admission is the same as for other NOTs or IITs through JOSAA and CSAB counselling. Student should have cleared JEE mains to get into this college and the cutoff criteria slighlyy changes every year based on level of paper and the number of students appearing for the exam.

Faculty :

Most of the faculties teaching the CSE Branch are great, if course you can't rule out some exceptions. But overall the teachers are quite supportive and try to help students in any way possible. But all of them take attendance very seriously.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We have 4 branch right now. I was interested in cyber security because it's such a field which can't be taken by AI. And our university also provide internship under DRDO. Similarly we have Avionics branch and every year our professor select some brilliant student for the internship and send them to IIST for the project under ISRO.

Remarks:

The management does not work for the growth of students traits they just handle the classes and teachers.

Admission:

There is JKCET entrance exam in j&k for the admission to engineering colleges in j&k.The merit list is prepared and you got the admission. Since it is a minority college 50 percent seats are reserved for sikhs for that there is another entrance exam for sikhs.
