Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very well defined and comprehensive. The St. Stephen's College is ranked by NIRF as one of the top colleges in India for B.Sc and B.A Hons. in various subjects. The course curriculum changes every few years so that the students are getting the latest knowledge. Exams are held time-to-time in every semester and the difficulty level of exams is not very hard, it's moderate. One thing I do not like is that even after paying such high fees for tuition, we also have to pay 2500-3000rs per exam as exam fees.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I have only seen on-campus internships until now where you have to do some work of the Vice Chancellor in the summer vacations and you get a stipend of about 5-7k per month which is low but fair enough for a student. You can also apply for off-campus placements in some companies and get a good stipend of 15-20k per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee in comparison to other central universities like JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University etc. is very high. For example, if you are paying 50000rs for the whole three-year BA course in Jamia Millia Islamia, you have to about the same but for just one year here in St. Stephens College. Even if you compare the fees with colleges in the same university that is Delhi University, the fees is still high. Many internship opportunities are there on campus too such as being an intern for the vice chancellor etc. where you are awarded with very small stipends such as 5-8k per month which is still ok for a student.

Campus Life

5

The annual St. Stephen's fest "Harmony" is held every year. Many celebrities and chief guests come into the event. The campus life overall is very good. There are several clubs you can join like the Urdu club, Eco club, Quiz club and more. WIde range of books are available in the library. The classrooms are not very well equipped with technological provisions. There is a tennis court and many things where you can exercise and play sports in the campus.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility is very good. The rooms have two beds in the first year for 2 students as in first year you have to share a room. But after the first year, second year onwards you have your own personal room. The rooms do not have Air Conditioners they just have a fan but you can bring your own cooler as many hostellers do. The registration process for hostel is very hard. Very few students are selected for Hostel. The hostel fees is also fairly high in comparison to universities like JNU. The mess food is amazing. There are both veg and nonveg options. Everyday good food is prepared.

Admission

After doing my 12th from Delhi Public School, Mathura Road and securing 94.2% aggregate, I had to appear for the CUET Undergraduate (previously called CUCET) examination where I managed to score the highest marks that is 800/800 and got my admission in St. Stephen's College. Since it was the first time the exam was held in 2022 and I appeared for it, it was fairly easy but I do not know about the difficulty level of CUET exam now.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty members are very well versed with their subjects. All of them have done the Doctorate of Philosophy (PHD) in their respective subjects and many of them have even done more courses after the PHD. The faculty-to-student ratio is very good too. The teachers also serve as mentors. They are always ready to reply to your queries whether it be regarding education, academics or your personal life.

Placement Experience:

Campus Placements are competitive and hard to get. Usually multiple offers are limited to few disciplines such as Commerce or economics. While many arts students usually dont sit for placements in that high a number. Highest packages have gone upto around 45LPA, while average package remains somewhere around 12-14 LPA While companies such as BCG,. mckinsey etc do visit campus and as I said- they are more economics and commerce oriented but other discipline students also get placed- just not in these high numbers. Usually around 8-9 GPA is a good score for placemets. The employability is good in the market as the college does have strong Alumni Network and also is a recognised and reputed name in the job market.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Too vague to understand, feels extra burden of unnecessary irrelevant topics , extra papers like SEC/VAC simply add to the burden while barely providing with any skills and values as their name suggests . Studying them and preparing for exams add extra stress and unnecessary burden on them , diverting their focus from their core papers , which are already too huge and they study materials or readings simply fail to assist . Areas for improvement would be - proper structured study materials , also proper structured practical subjects / papers for students where they can actually learn or gain knowledge/skills which will be advantageous in their future .

Placement Experience:

I would say the placement opportunities are more available for science , commerce background students in the college there are rarely any placement opportunities for humanities background students . Mostly students starts engaging in placement in the fifth semester .severky companies visited campus every year including Deloitte , EY.TCS etc . Around 40 - 50 percent students from professional courses get the placement annually .even for the students not opting for placement the exposure n the strong alumni network of college help them secure good opportunities outside campus

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is done in the 3rd year. The highest PPO given is 24,00,000 to auditing and taxation departments. Average package is about ?15,00,000 to ?18,00,000. Companies like Eay, KPMG and more visit our college for placement. Most students under the commerce department get offered internships. Other than this, the placement cell also actively keeps sending internship opportunities for students to enhance their profiles. I am an English honours student l, thus there is no placement option for me directly unless I take up options from the P-Cell. I have already interned at EY India, Gurgaon, as a forensics and risk management specialist( throigh personal referral). My knowledge (attained from DCAC) of research, report and article writing were used adequately.

IIAD has a 90% placement track record. Companies like Netflix, Levi's, FabIndia, Squareboat come for campus placements. The average package offered is also decent, around 5 LPA. My seniors are quite happy with the job roles they have received during the campus placements. Students are eligible to apply for campus placements in their final year. My plan after getting the degree is to start my own fashion marketing agency.
