Course Curriculum Overview :
Vidyasagar College closely follows the syllabus and curriculum given by Calcutta University for our particular course. The syllabus for the first Semester is a detailed explanation and is aligned with class 11 and 12 topics so that students can easily grasp them. It would be better to introduce some topics like differential equations and partial differentiation earlier in the couse for the students to understand those topics better.
Placement Experience :
The placement opportunity for our course is not so great. Most of the students opted for higher education like an M.sc and Ph.D. No internships are provided to the students of our college in this course. Many of our seniors have passed out of college without getting any job offers.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
About RS.5,500 is charged for each semester which is of 6 months duration. The fees include CU center fee, CU examination fee, admission fee, maintenance fee, college examination fee, Lab fee, library fee, and so on. It DOES NOT INCLUDE HOSTEL FEE. The scholarship given by the government is provided. Often scholarship awareness scheme seminars are conducted to encourage students and make them aware of these benefits.
Campus Life :
Every year freshers are given to the new batch of students. Vidyasagar College students union organizes the freshers for the students, other than that every department organizes a feast to welcome the students in their departments separately. Seminars, talks by visitors, workshops, and conferences are often conducted. Students are also encouraged to pick up extra-curricular activities. Annual feasts and annual sports are also organized at the end of each academic year.
Admission :
My name came for Maths Hons in the first list and the admission process was smooth. When I went to the college for physical verification one week after the list came out, the teachers were approachable and they explained the details of the course to us and also encouraged us to take electives that would synchronize with our current syllabus and curriculum. For us the admission process was hassle-free. The orientation took place the same day. Only 5 students were admitted to our course and many seats got wasted.
