Likes

Faculty is excellent, high quality labs, availablity of most of the instruments and reagents, air conditioned class rooms.
Overall system is excellent, easy and fast official processes
1 educational tour is also done during 5th semester

Dislikes

Admission as well as Semester fees are high somewhat than other departments.
No intrinsic opportunity of any summer internships

Course Curriculum Overview

In this course various fields of biology are explored, leads to appearance of many opportunities for the master's degree. Regular practical classes helps to gain in hand experience. Viva voce helps to gain confidence among students. Exams are moderate level of difficulty, also internal class tests are conducted for preparation.

Class Size: 25Course Fees: INR 37000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Admission fees wa around Rs -37000/- in 2019 but now it's around 44000/-, it includes the admission, 1st semester fees and a security deposit of Rs 5000/- that will be refunded after completion of the course. Semester fees- was around 20000/- per semester. Govt provided scholarships are available. Student credit card facility is also available.

Campus Life

Annual festival called Caledonia, other festival like food festival, science fair also take place, timing varies. There is a huge central library contain plenty of books, one can read, borrow, can get access to journals from library computers. Annually sports also take place. Blood donation camps are also frequent. There are cultural committees one can take membership.

Admission

Admission is done by online centralised process according to the marks obtained in higher secondary exam, no entrance test is done. The application form is available in the college website. Some seats are reserved for Cristian students, also SC/ST/OBC reservations are available.

Faculty

5-6 teachers for 25 students, they are extremely qualified, have great knowledge, experience and responsibilities towards students. Parent teacher meeting and one to one mentor mentee session also done.

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Physical Chemistry faculties are the best I got, that influenced me to carry forward my research carrier in Physical Chemistry. The curriculum for the Physical and Inorganic chemistry are upto the mark and I felt improvement in teaching style and curriculum is required for Organic Chemistry part. The difficulty of Internal examination can be improved a bit.

It was good to be a part of that college

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

The new nep system for my subject microbiology is quite relevant. it is supposed to have internship and research according to 4-year program. the syllabus overall is convenient. teaching method is good and faculty are well advanced.

The reality of SCC

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.

Remarks:

This college is extremely good and known for its discipline and the stress it puts on the importance of studying. Also, there are many extra curricular activities thag one can take part in, and the teachers are helpful and encourages for a better future and are also vert capable. I opted for the course because any biology related course excites me and this college has one of the best faculty for this course.

It was good to be a part of that college

You have to pass the 12 th boards with above 90% marks then only you'll get the college. They always have the application form and all the informations in there official college website. There was reservation policies as I was sc so it was a little bit low cut off for my reservation. The exam pattern and difficulty level was a little bit hard. The admission process was fully online and convenient. eligibility of my course is above 75% in PCB subjects in 12th grade. online application and everything related to admission is available on the website. For taking admission in Scottish church college you should have atleast 90% best of 4 in your 12th boards(although it will slightly depend on department to department). You will get all the updates from the college website itself There is no partiality in the admission process If you have merit then obviously you will get chance to study here. Scottish Church College doesn't take any admission test. The college admits students on the basis of their board exams. So likewise I got admitted to the college through my board exam marks. The eligibility of the course is the percentage of one's board exam marks. The application form can be found in internet on the college's official website, and further more details,like application fees, application dates etc are given on the college website. If anyone asks me that what aspects of the admission process I didn't like, my simple answer is there is nothing that I didn't like about the admission process.
