Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because it was the best I was getting at my rank. I honestly did not have any knowledge sufficient enough to understand which branch of engineering I should opt for. Initially, I did not like my course but now as a second-year civil engineering student, I actually like what I'm studying but on the other hand but I would also not recommend to follow in my footsteps as I firmly believe that everyone has a story of their own and should carve their own paths. The curriculum is well thought of but it is old and has been continued for years despite the development around us. I think the curriculum should be updated and revised now since times have changed drastically. Improvement can be made especially in civil engineering by integrating software into civil engineering and teaching that to the students. In my first year, the exams were held frequently and were very tough to cope up with personally (covid batch). But in my second year, things have improved.

Internships Opportunities :

A lot of companies come to our college in various domains like software development, product development, data science, data analytics and core branches. Companies like Flipkrat, Unsnarl, Uber, Ola, and many more.

Placement Experience :

B.Tech students are eligible in 4th year for placements. B.Tech + M.Tech students are eligible in their 5th year. The highest package this year was 1.68 crores and average package was 20 lakhs. My plans after getting the degree are uncertain till now.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There has been no hike in the tuition fee since the starting of the college. The mess fee was increased from 12000 to 15000 in the second semester. The complete cost of my education is around 2 lakhs for every year, so around 10 lakhs excluding other expenses. There are many financial aids available for students but they are only available for students with reservation, economically weaker section students, physically disabled students. I have completed an internship at an NGO but I have not undertaken any campus employment yet.

Campus Life :

There are 5 fests held every year : FMC Weekend - fest of the film and media council - November Kashiyatra - annual social and cultural fest - January E-Summit - Entrepreneurship fest - February Departmental fests (of each department) - any time Books are available in the library but you have to search a lot. A blackboard, a screen (for presenting presentations), and a microphone are present in our classrooms. Almost all the sports are available in the campus with trainers and respective sports equipment.

Hostel Facilities :

A study table, chair and bed is given to each student in their rooms. I have a room with triple sharing which is pretty congested. The meals are very good in the starting of the year but they reduce the quality of their food during the course of the year. The registration process is done on the website of IIT BHU.

Admission :

I qualified the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and Advanced. I got 96 percentile with a rank 33887 in JEE Mains and 18095 rank in JEE Advanced. I applied in standard 12th (fresh year). Class 12th students and one year dropout students are eligible for appearing in the JEE examinations. I applied on National Testing Agency (NTA) website for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced website for JEE Advanced. The respective results were declared on their respective websites. Counselling was conducted the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) website. The counselling was conducted in 6 rounds. There is also a special round which is the seventh round which is specially for NITs, IIITs, other colleges except IITs. I did not participate in that round since I had chosen B. Tech + M. Tech (Integrated Dual Degree) Program in Civil Engineering at IIT (BHU) Varanasi. In my year, JEE Mains was conducted two times as two attempts out of which the best was chosen as the final score.

Placement Experience:

More specifically if I am talking about placement is that if you want to get good placements in dei that you must maintain your sgpa at least 8 points for you to appear in the placement cell. There are many companies visited in college like torrent power for electrical branch and other for their respective branches. Around 60% of students get their placements through college and it also depends on students' ability and skills. Since I am in the 4th semester so yes from 3rd year students get their training or internship through college to students with good grades. So you must have to maintain at least 8 sgpa for better placements.
