Course Curriculum Overview :
All of us know that Electronics and Communication both are very important field of Research in today's world. Curriculum wise the course is good, it covers basic electronics in start and then Analog ans Digital Electronics. Semiconductor Device Physics is also included in the course. Signal Processing, a important aspect of Communication is also covered in our course curriculum. In curriculum the theoretical aspect is covered rigorously but there is some lack in practical based learning. But overall the course is very good when compared with other colleges in India. In a particular course, we have some quizzes and/or assignments for regular evaluation & we have Mid-Semester and End- Semester Examinations which covers the major part of evaluation.
Internships Opportunities :
Unlike placements, Less students secure Internship through college. But still internship opportunities are better than other colleges. Quant companies: Quadeye, Trexquant, etc come for quant related roles with 3 lac+ stipend per month. Software roles: Oracle, Google, Microsoft, Uber, Amazon etc with 1.5 lac + stipend per month Consulting Roles: BCG, Bain and Company, McKinsey etc with 2 lac+ stipend per month
Placement Experience :
Placement wise the institute is very good. Mostly students gets placed from the college only. If you are from BTech course, in 7th semester you sit for the placements. Otherwise Dual Degree students (BTech+Mtech), sit for placement in their 9th semester. Total number of offers made during 2023-24 Placements are 1350+ made to 1270+ students. Highest package is always 1 Cr+ in our institute. Average package is around 17 lacs per annum. Not all students sit for placements here. Many choose higher studies, some choose civil services as their goal and many other career paths can be seen here.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
We have 1 lac for tution fee per semester (2 semester in a year). The total fees per semester is around 1.1 lacs (excluding mess and hostel charges). As compared to different IITs the fees is higher in Kharagpur. IIT Kharagpur offers various scholarships to financially weak students. Depending on your parent's income 33% or 66% or 100% tution fees is waived. If your parents income is less than 1lac annually then you can avail 100% waivier in tution fees. The name of scholarship is MCM. Apart from it various other scholarships are also there, you can check that from the IIT Kharagpur's institute website.
Campus Life :
There are majorly 2 fests, Spring fest the cultural fest and Kshitij the technical fest of the institute. Apart from it one sports fest is also organised this year named Shaurya. Library is quite big here, many books are available here. Books needed for professional courses of management and law are also available because our institute also offers LLB and LLM, MBA courses. Technology wise labs are good. There are various research groups also here at KGP namely Aerial Robotics Kharagpur (ARK), Autonomous Ground vehicles (AGV), Team KART etc. Sports and extracurricular activities are also encouraged here in institute. We have competitions between hall of Residences (hostels) named as General Championship to further increase the extracurricular activities in our Institute.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel are generally called Hall of Residence in our institute. Our institute is fully residential, so rented accommodation outside campus is not allowed here. Halls are mostly quite old here. Electrical Wiring and drainage system are also old. Same like others, Water supply pipelines are also old. The whole structure of the halls are old. And due to increase in admission seats, many are facing accomodation issues here. Mess depends on your hall. As in various hall mess food is not good. But mess food in my hall(Patel Hall of Residence) is good (okayish) Wi-Fi facility is available at the halls.
