- Huge campus, club culture and amenities.
- In campus placements are very good although they vary from year to year all over India.
Dislikes
- Course structure is very outdated and needs to be changed.
- Although the campus is big, it is mostly jungle and it is in a very rural part of ranchi.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is similar to any other NIT. It is out of date and we still learn C language in first year. Blame the education system and the college as well. 75 percent compulsory attendance best of luck with that.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships are provided after second and third year. We get a 3 month semester break for our internships. Many tech companies visit and offer interships, stipend is generally relatively low. Good projects are required to be selected for good internships.
Placement Experience :
Placements are quite good with the average and median being 22 lpa and 18 lpa in my department. It is better than some NITs and many IIITs. If you get a good branch, you can come. It has a good percent of student placed above 90 percent. I plan on getting a job after btech, gain 2 years of work experience and do MBA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholarship aid and Govt. Loans are available. I don't know much about them. Let me warn you, this is a GFTI but the fees is like a private college, total 4 years cost including everything is around 18 lakh.
Campus Life :
We have a lot of fests all year round, the biggest cultural fest being Bitotsav and the tech fest id Pantheon. A lot of technical and cultural clubs are present covering almost all aspects in life. You have to enter clubs through proper interviews and tests. Campus is huge, but there is jungle for most of the part. Only 4 hostels are close, rest are far away from main bulding. Canteens are available. Buildings are far away from one another, cycle is needed. The college has one of the biggest libraries in Asia. Being 3 storeyed, all kinds of books are available. Though it is not fully air conditioned. Labs are good, functional and workable.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels vary a lot. H1 is best. Mess food in other hostels are tolerable but absolutely not good. PG can be rented outside the campus but the campus is huge and main gate is a long way away. It is not preferred. Hostels will get alright if you get used to the. Rooms are very small, two people but the rooms were made for only one.
Admission :
I received through CSAB counselling, round 1. The cutoff for OPEN, GENERAL, OTHER STATE, was around 25000 for my branch AIML. Later i found the admission details in the website where i had to come to campus and take admission. I was not informed before that we get get hostels according to admission dates, hostels vary a lot on cleanliness and overall. H1 is the best which is filled up first.
