Fresher review of IIT BHU

Dislikes

  • The administrative processes can sometimes be bureaucratic and slow
  • Some of the older academic buildings require renovation to match the standard of the newer infrastructure on campu

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course for its comprehensive approach to Metallurgical Engineering, which aligns with my career objectives in material development and sustainability. The faculty-to-student ratio at our institution is about 1:15, which facilitates an intimate classroom environment and ample opportunities for one-on-one mentorship. Our professors are distinguished in their fields, holding advanced degrees such as PhDs from renowned institutions Regarding assessments, term exams are good

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities at IIT BHU are abundant, with companies like Google, Microsoft, and Reliance offering roles in software development, data analysis, and project management. These internships often come with competitive stipends and involve working on live projects like developing apps or optimizing processes, providing valuable industry experience and tangible outcomes such as product improvements or increased efficiency.

Placement Experience :

At IIT BHU, students become eligible for placements in their final year. Top recruiters include tech and core companies, with an average of 20 offers per company. The highest package can reach up to ?1.5 crores internationally, while the domestic highest is around ?70 lakhs, with an average package of ?18 lakhs. Over 80% of students get placed, and many pursue higher studies post-degree. My plan is to work in the tech industry after graduation.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure for the program is notably considerate for ST category students like me, where the standard tuition fee is significantly reduced to 18,000 due to the fee remission policy for reserved categories. This reduction is a substantial financial relief and makes higher education more accessible. As an ST category student, I didn't require a scholarship for tuition but have applied for additional scholarships to cover other expenses like books and living costs. The applications are pending, and I hope to secure further financial support to ease my educational journey.

Campus Life :

Campus life at IIT BHU is a blend of academic rigor and extracurricular enjoyment. The annual fest, 'Kashi Yatra,' and the tech fest, 'Technex,' usually take place in February and March, drawing a plethora of activities from cultural showcases to technical workshops. The library is a reservoir of knowledge, well-stocked with a wide array of books and journals, and the classrooms are equipped with the latest technology, ensuring a conducive learning environment. Sports and extracurriculars thrive, with facilities for athletics, cricket, football, and more, alongside clubs for robotics, coding, and arts. Student initiatives like the 'Entrepreneurship Cell' and 'Eco Club' encourage innovation and sustainability.

Hostel Facilities :

The Aryabhatta Hostel for first-year students at IIT BHU is well-maintained with essential facilities like Wi-Fi, common rooms, and study areas. The rooms are comfortable, typically shared between two students, providing a good balance of privacy and community living. The mess food is a highlight, with a variety of nutritious and tasty meals served in the Maharaja style, which is unique to the Banaras region, offering a rich dining experience. The menu changes regularly, ensuring students have access to different cuisines. The registration process for the hostel is straightforward and integrated into the admission process, making it affordable and accessible. Overall, I would rate the Aryabhatta hostel experience highly for its amenities and the quality of life it offers to students.

Admission :

For IIT BHU's Metallurgical Engineering program under the ST category, the admission process starts with appearing for the JEE Advanced exam after qualifying JEE Mains. The cut-off marks for the ST category are typically lower compared to the general category, reflecting the reservation benefits. Eligibility criteria include a successful pass in the 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, along with a valid JEE Advanced score. Candidates must also meet the minimum percentage criteria set for the ST category by the institute. The application process involves registering for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling post-JEE Advanced results. During JoSAA counselling, you need to fill in your choices of courses and institutes, prioritize IIT BHU's Metallurgical Engineering, and lock in the choices before the deadline.

From the 6th semester, students can start getting placement if they had done an internship with any company. Otherwise, in the 7th and 8th semesters, most of the students get the placement. Many renowned companies come and offer jobs in college. About 70 percent of the students get the placement.

More specifically if I am talking about placement is that if you want to get good placements in dei that you must maintain your sgpa at least 8 points for you to appear in the placement cell. There are many companies visited in college like torrent power for electrical branch and other for their respective branches. Around 60% of students get their placements through college and it also depends on students' ability and skills. Since I am in the 4th semester so yes from 3rd year students get their training or internship through college to students with good grades. So you must have to maintain at least 8 sgpa for better placements.

The placements of the college have been great so far. All the major companies and tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, AWS, DELL, etc came for placements this year. The average package this year for BTECH students was 8.6 lakhs per annum. Also, the highest package so far has been 44 lakhs p.a. Almost all students are placed with good packages so it is an ideal choice to choose Bennett University for higher education.

Placements are good in GCET, Although they vary from time to time. For placements, students are eligible from the 7th Sem. Companies like Direct-I, Samsung, Amazon, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, etc. all visited the campus. The highest package I now am 21LPA buy it can be more. And except recession 60-70%, people are placed. Rest it all depends on students as well.
