A glimpse of IIT Varanasi

  • The first thing which I don't like is open campus.Any one can come in college.
  • The second thing which I don't like is that our IIT is merged with BHU.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose it because I had a keen interest in chemistry and pharmaceutical is all about chemistry only. Also, I want to go into research so this was the best branch to go for research. This branch has a vast scope of research. There are a good number of faculty in the college. As such there is no data of faculty to student ratio, but for each topic, a prof is assigned. These profs are highly qualified from top institutes of the world including MIT, Harvard University, and many others. some are from IITs only. Their rank in the world is very high. Even some of our profs come in the top 100 rank of the World. They teach each and everything so nicely. If you were not able to understand in class you can go to their cabin they will teach you personally. They always try to help students in whatever way they can. in the semester two times exams are conducted one is mid-term exam and the second is the end term. Exams are not very difficult you can easily pass the exam by studying whatever ever taught to you.

Placement Experience :

Placement is provided by the college. Various company visits the college. Sapient, Redseer, Marvell, ARM, Atlassian etc. The average package is 23 lpa and highest is 1.68 cr and Lowest is 10 lpa. Almost 97% of students get placed this year. Till now around 1700 offers have been made and 400+ companies visited the campus. My plan is also to take a placement after my graduation. After 3rd year students are eligible for placement and IDD students after 4th year. And for an internship after the second year for B.tech and after 3rd year for IDD students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees of college depend on your family income. If your family income is more than 5 lakh then your fees for one semester is 1lakh 6 thousand and mess fees of 15k. If your family income is between 1 to 5 lakh then your fees would be 40 thousand rupees and mess fees of 15k. And if your family income is less than 1 lakh then you have to pay 5 thousand and 15k for mess fees. You will get books from the Library so u don't have to worry about books. Various scholarships are available some scholarships are provided by different state governments and some you will get because you are an IItian. The college also provides scholarships to students based on their cgpa. If your CGPA is above is 7 then you will get this scholarship.

Campus Life :

Campus Life is very good. There are various festivals organized in college. The largest fest is the kashiyatra which is the cultural fest of our college organised in January. Then there is a tech fest known as Technex and a sports fest known as Spardha. Also various fest of the department. The pharmaceutical department fest's name is Spirit. All types of books are available in the library so there is no problem with books. You can get all the books there. Classes start from 8 am till 6 pm and there is a lunch break from 12-1:30.Almost all types of sports faculties are available in the college. You can join any sport you want. There are various clubs available in college. All types of clubs are available including Cops for coding, Robo Club for robotics Astro for astronomy, and many other clubs which are run by students only. We have a parliament which is also run by students only.

Admission :

Admission to IITs is through Jee Advanced. We first prepare for jee advanced then give it and as a result, we apply for Jossa counseling where choices of college are filled and then you get college according to your choice you have filled. The cut-off for IIT BHU pharmaceutical engineering is around 10k rank. You can get an application from the official website of Jee Advanced. To be eligible for jee advanced you first need to give jee mains and for general category cut off for jee mains is 89 percentile then jee advanced forms are opened which you need to fill. Every year a different IIT conducts the exam.

Placement Experience:

More specifically if I am talking about placement is that if you want to get good placements in dei that you must maintain your sgpa at least 8 points for you to appear in the placement cell. There are many companies visited in college like torrent power for electrical branch and other for their respective branches. Around 60% of students get their placements through college and it also depends on students' ability and skills. Since I am in the 4th semester so yes from 3rd year students get their training or internship through college to students with good grades. So you must have to maintain at least 8 sgpa for better placements.
