Remarks :
the college management may be difficult to bear with. Absurd rules may be applied in college campus (like entry time specified for boys hostel is 6 pm, apology letters for silliest reasons , getting documents etc from college maybe hell of a pain)
Entrance Preview :
The university conducts its own entrance test called SRMJEEE. I took the exam in 2010 after finishing 12th boards. Back then I got a rank around 7000 and opted for electrical and electronics engineering in SRM university Ramapuram campus
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course is well designed to cover all aspects of engineering. You can pursue GATE for higher studies in IITs the curriculum is designed well for GATE topics too. As far as research is concerned, you may pursue in master courses, but bachelor courses are not good enough for research areas.
Internships Opportunities :
No. the college doesnt provide internship. But there are subjects in which internship is required during vacations. you can get these internships easily on your own. For example, BSNL provides paid internship which anyone can easily do and obtain required credits.
Placement Experience :
Placements are more or less 100% in SRM university unless you are not interested (maybe research is your aim or MBA or higher studies) 99% are into software companies no matter what stream you are from. the package, however, will be minimum for most of the students and 90% students leave the IT company after 1-2 years of service
College Events :
Cultural fests are common in SRM ramapuram. There are many other fests organised like fashion show and many more. Other fests are organised in Kattankulathur campus which you can visit easily.The tech fest of EEE is organised by students and they are the ones who get sponsors too. So go for it if you are interested.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
the fee structure for 2010-14 batch was 1500000 per year. Other fee include hostel fee(not mandatory to stay in hostel), book fee(mandatory), exam fee( mandatory in each semester) The fee structure might change every year so visit the official website of SRM university for details
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Bank loans are easily available during the counselling itself. On the day of counselling, you will be provided some docs by the college based on which you will be provided loan.
Campus Life :
Campus life is enjoyable. girls are less in number in ramapuram campus. Its a nice overall package of studies, sports, cultural fests. The students on campus are from all states of India. Excellent extracurricular opportunities are available if you are an extrovert. Yes, robotics workshop is held from time to time.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facilities for Ramapuram campus are good. But the hostel is very expensive. so better rent a room in the local area. Mess food is not good but manageable. Rooms are easily available outside with average rent of 5000. PGs are also available.But staying in the hostel for the first year is recommended to adapt yourself to the college atmosphere.
Alumni/Alumna :
Yes there exists an alumini network and meets are organised for ramapuram aluminis. Seniors help a lot in exams, preparations etc
Exam Structure :
Exams are easy in SRM as compared to Anna university and IITs. again, a cgpa of 8 is easily attainable for anyone mark allocation an CGPA are relative So exams are not a worry in SRM Clearing practicals is easy too. Infrastructure is compromised and the scorching heat of chennai is difficult to bear (for EEE lab students and Civil students)
Admission :
The admisson process is easy. You are required to give the entrance test, based on your marks you will receive sms and mail about the counselling date. You are required to visit the college on the mentioned date and as per rank seats are alloted in the campus and stream
Faculty :
The faculty of ramapuram campus is friendly and has good grasp of the subject concerned. There is nearly no difference in studying in the Kattankulathur campus and ramapuram campus. personal doubt clearning is always welcomed by all the faculty members.
