Course Curriculum Overview :
My main motive for choosing this course is I want to study in the most prestigious institute in India and experience the teaching of the best faculty in India. The student ratio is around 1:5. The faculties are highly experienced and can help you understand concepts in a very easy way. There are one mid-semester and one end-semester examination per semester and the difficulty level depends upon the subject but you can score good marks if you start studying a week before the examinations.
Internships Opportunities :
You can get internship by applying for CDC ie, career development center in 3rd year and they will ensure that you get internship in your interested domain with a good stipend of around 1 lakh per month. You can get internships in various companies like JPMorgan, Amazon, Microsoft and many others. You can also do research internship uder professor of IIT Kharagpur with a monthly stipend.
Placement Experience :
For 4 years BTech students get eligible for the placements after 3 years and many got PPO, pre-placement offers during their 3rd-year internships. Names of the companies visited are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, JPMorgan, and many other giants along with mass recruiter. The number of offers made is more than the number of students. The highest salary goes in crores and the average is around 25 LPA. The percentage of students getting placed is around 80%. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees in my college are around 289000 per year. But there are many college facilities, for example, the Fee waiver scheme in which you have to pay only 33% of the tuition fees if your family income lies below 5 lakh and if your family income falls below 1 lakh per year you have to pay no tuition fees. There are many other scholarships available and there are Banks in college that provide you interest-free education loans very easily.
Campus Life :
The name of our Annual fest is Spring Fest conducted in January and our tech fest khitiz also conducted in the month of January. IIT Kharagpur has a very last library with a capacity of around 5,000 students and each hostel also has its own library. The classroom complex known as Nalanda Complex has very large and spacious classrooms with a capacity of around 150 students. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned. Sports and Extra cultural activities are added as a subject for 1st and 2nd year students which is mandatory for everyone to participate in some extracurricular activities. Khitiz, and Spring Fest, are some of the social groups in our college.
Hostel Facilities :
In the hostel room, we have a bed, a chair, a cupboard, and a study table. The mess food quality is very good as well as nutritional. Our mess menu has a wide variety of foods. The registration process for the hostel can be done once you reach the hostel and the process is very smoothly handled by our warden and assistant warden with the help of security.
Admission :
You need to qualify jee advance to take admission to the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. But to sit for Jee advanced paper you must first have to qualify Jee mains. The general cutoff for qualifying jee mains is around 89 percentile, for which you need to score around 20% marks. If you get qualified in jee mains then you get eligible for jee advance. To appear in Jee Mains you need to fill application form for which registration starts during the last quarter of the year and the Jee Mains exam is conducted 2 times in January and April, the best of them will be used for your final result evaluation. The application fee for Jee Mains is nearly Rs 650 per attempt and around Rs 3000 for Jee Advanced. There are reserved seats also for OBCs, SCs, STs, Physically Disabled, and Economically weaker sections. But as belonging to a General category, I was able to avail any such facility. There are also some improvements that I want to see in the examination process of jee mains.
