- The college overall is very clean, you rarely come across very dirty areas and hygiene is also maintained. This really helps have a enjoyable atmosphere to live in.
- There is a diverse range of clubs to choose from, and you always will end up liking one or the other club and join it. We have cultural, scitech clubs. Even Tinkerers' Lab.
Dislikes
- The weather is not predictable. It may rain sometimes and suddenly become sunny. You get very annoyed due to this. You always need to carry an umbrella both for sun and rain, and if you forget, you suffer intense heat and rain.
- The construction takes much longer than expected to finish. They announced that the indoor sports complex will be ready by new year 2023, however it is september, still not ready.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have taken this course as it is very unique at the same time fits perfectly in my JEE rank. To describe this branch, you get to choose specialization after 2 years based on CGPA, which means after completing 4 semesters, you get to choose any branch of your choice where you can do specialization (it may be CS, AI, or any other core branch, or remain in ES). In the meantime, for the first two years, you are given a brief understanding of all courses with approximately 2-3 core courses of each branch. This helps you decide your specialization. The faculty-student ratio is approximately 1:13, which I assume is a good ratio. Most of the faculty are well qualified and have deep knowledge of their subject. Many of the faculty are quite experienced as well. However, I particularly don't like the mechanical professors as I do not like the way they teach. The exams are once a month per course, and we have around 5 courses running at the same time. It is relative so even if the paper is tough, you pass.
Internships Opportunities :
There are several internship opportunities in my college. Firstly we have the Office Of Career Services, which guides students in getting placed and getting internships. They organize mock interviews to further help students get the most out of what they actually know. The stipend earned is usually decent for beginners. Note that apart from the usual 3 month internships in summer, we also have semester long internsips which last a whole semester that is six months. We also have student exchange programs, wherein we get to explore other parts of the world and others too come to our college. This really helps the student community learn different cultures and grow,
Placement Experience :
Campus placements usually start in the fourth year, however, there are internships that you can take during the third year. Some of the companies visited were Amazon, Google, Flipkart, Microsoft, Adobe and many more. In the year 2023, the number of recruiters was 335 and the number of students placed was 570 out of 621 offers made. There are also many international offers made, with a count of 55 offers made. Keep in mind that IIT Hyderabad has strong international relations with Japan, so many offers are from there as well. Also one can opt for semester-long internships, which are 6 months long. The highest package is 63.78 lakhs per annum in Indian Rupees. The average package is 20.08 lakhs per annum in Indian Rupees. I particularly like Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. I plan on joining one of these two branches after my degree.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure I feel is reasonable as it is a government college. The total fee right now is 144370, out of which the tuition fee is 100000 rupees. This was for general and prices are low if you have any reservations. You can also apply for a scholarship if your family income is less than 8 lakhs per annum. Apart from that there may be fee hikes or drops. This is as per the on-campus transportation costs and mess costs. Recently they decreased the number of busses from 5 to 3 and thereby decreased the transportation fees as well. The cost to study is not too much apart from tuition fees, as there is a library so you do not need to purchase each and every book. Just stationary is sufficient.
Campus Life :
The annual fest of the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is Elan & nVision. This usually happens around march every year, the dates may slightly vary. Apart from that there are also various events that the clubs host: for example we have TedX, and last year we had cyberCon hosted by Kludge, the cyber security club of IITH, and many more. We also have Milan, the inter-hostel competition: sports, sci-tech, and cultural events. Similarly, we have Diesta, the inter Department competitions. The library is well equipped with study books as well as general books. They float a form once every month in case you want to order a book not presently available. The classrooms are well-equipped with Air conditioners and speakers. The classrooms are large, and the lecture hall complex is also quickly being constructed and will open soon, that has massive capacity as well. We have courts for almost all sports, currently, they are temporary, the main sports complex is set to open this year.
Admission :
I cleared the JEE Advanced exam in the year 2022 and got a rank suitable to join this college and brach (Engineering Science at IITH). This is one of the hardest exams in the world. The application form will be released on the website jeeadv.ac.in. However, inorder to register you need to clear JEE Mains(Approximately within the 98 percentile). In the academic year 2023, my branch opened at a rank of 1956 and closed at 4039 in general. In my year 2022, it opened at 2000 and closed at 4207. One improvement I would like in the admission process is to increase the number of seats at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. In my year there we only had a total of 505 students in the BTech program. The college is expanding rapidly so the number of seats should increase in the future year.
