Course Curriculum Overview :
Being a CFTI college, the institute draws faculties from all over India. Most of them have done their master's and Ph.Ds from IIT or other institutes of eminence. Baring a few, most of the faculties are good and helpful, guiding you as much they can + the technical assistants will also help you with all aspects. The F-S ratio is about 1:40. And the term xms are easy to pass too.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Upon admission, a payment of 18620 is required. Subsequently, each even semester necessitates a fee of 7250, while an amount of 7650 is due for every odd semester. Various government scholarships, including the Shami Vivekananda Scholarship, can mitigate costs. However, it's important to note that the fee structure is relatively elevated due to the government college status. A campus job would have been better but here is no such provision
Campus Life :
The campus encompasses 4 academic blocks, each named after renowned scientists, along with a library block, 3 residential quarters, and an administration building. Additional constructions are also in progress. The facilities include gyms, indoor games, 2 football grounds, 1 open-air theater, 1 cricket ground, 1 badminton court, and 2 volleyball courts, spread across a sprawling 110-acre campus and surrounding areas. The institution hosts numerous clubs such as tech, arts, space, photography, and cultural clubs. The cultural clubs organize the annual cultural fest, "Krishtitarang." The campus is vibrant, offering a lively experience. Given the nominal fee, the institute provides exceptional Return on Investment (ROI).
Hostel Facilities :
SC Bose Hall and Vivekananda Hall are the two hostel blocks till now, with more hostels under construction. The bond between seniors and juniors is good, common room is a place to enjoy specially during cricket and football matches on TV. The mess facility is ok, just like any other engineering college. But a point to keep in mind is that the food quality is moderate.
Admission :
The admission process at Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering and Technology (GKCIET) Malda centers around JEE Main and WBJEE scores. After these exams, candidates apply online, submit documents, and attend counseling where they select engineering disciplines based on merit and availability. Seat allotment follows, requiring admission fee payment to confirm seats. Reporting to the institute finalizes the process. All process is through counselling sessions of the respective exams.
