Course Curriculum Overview :
This course gives a wide range of options to the students. It is difficult but allows us to choose either higher studies or jobs with an assurance of good placements. The faculty here is very old and experienced. They are mostly very helpful and supportive but some might turn out to be strict at times. Many faculties in college are Ph.Ds and have great knowledge about their fields. The terminal exams were a little untimely due to the COVID pandemic. But were assured to be well timed from the next semester. The exams are not easy but as there is a chance of getting supple in some subjects, but if you spend a decent amount of time in studies you can pass with ease and at times even score well.
Internships Opportunities :
The students can opt for Internships by the end of the fourth semester. Companies like Texas Instruments give internship opportunities. The students in the 5th and 6th semesters go for internships for a good amount of salary.
Placement Experience :
The students are eligible for placements from the 7th Semester, while students can opt for internships by the end of the 4th Semester. The top companies that make recruitments for Electrical Engineering Courses are Texas Instruments and TCS. Again for the Electrical Engineering Course on average 80 percent of students get placed. I have planned to get placed in the 7th semester so that after getting the degree I can settle for my job.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The cost of the study is fairly high but still less than some other NITs. The tuition fee is nearly seventy thousand per semester and the residential fee is 30000 per semester. Since I'm still in the first year stipends are not something I'm much acquainted with.
Campus Life :
The annual Tech Fest in our college is called Instruo. It is the largest Tech Fest organized in the Kolkata Region, held in the month of February. While the annual Cultural Fest is called Rebeca, which is a grand fest, held in the month of June. There is a huge collection of academic books in the Ramanujan Library, which covers the various topics of all courses including Architecture and Town Planning. The Library also has a good collection of literary books. Sports is another fancy of our college as there are many sports competitions and tournaments held within the college by the students as well a sports meet held by the college. The sports mostly played are cricket, football, and basketball. The topmost active groups are CodeIIEST, the coding club, Catharisis, the photography club, and Euphony, the music club.
Hostel Facilities :
In the first year, every room accommodates 4 students. Each student is provided with a table, a locker, a pair of locks and keys, and a bed. While the pillow and mattress are supposed to be bought by the students. There is an average of 3 fans and 3 tube lights in each room. The meal is pretty decent. Although you will always get the sweetish Bengali flavor in everything dish, the quality will be good. The menu mostly depends on the students who take up the responsibility for the mess. There is always a crunch of funds but still, with good management, you can have a good menu. The students need to first get admitted into the college and after that need to get admitted into the hostel through the mess section. This hostel admission has its date and needs to be followed as informed. Then the student is allotted his hostel. Then the student has to register himself at the caretaker's office in the hostel where he is allotted a room. Mostly all students get a room except for some.
Admission :
Students who secured a rank of minimum 22 thousand were eligible and for SC category a minimum category rank of 3000 was required to opt for the Electrical Engineering Course. The admissions are based on the result of JEE Mains Exam. The tuition fee waiver is applied to students of reserved categories. The admission process was very time taking and the also for the admission in Hostel was the most difficult task with many formalities.
