Remarks :

NIT Srinagar, the technical institute situated in the heart of the valley is surrounded by a beautiful scenery. The centrally funded institute holds its rank in the top 20 most beautiful colleges in India. Although sometimes the situations become critical due to the border security reasons, yet it is a great experience to have your college life in such a place. Apart from technical knowledge, it teaches you uncountable other things that you might not learn in any other institute.

Entrance Preview :

Admission to nit Srinagar is taken by jee mains exam , one should qualify the jee mains and admission is taken according to the merit list.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The cousre curriculum was good not great the faculty was also good and were moderately interested. It gives importantance to practical learning to some extent only.

Internships Opportunities :

Actually college doesn't played any role in getting college internship so we have to personally try in different companies for internship it is one of the worst part of training and placement department thats the reason we guys are not even getting general stipend in our college internship.

Placement Experience :

The placement scenario is very good for CS, IT and electronics branch students. The average placement package is about 5.5 LPA which is quite good. The highest package of this college is 72 LPA but it was an off-campus placement so don't expect more.INFOSYS, TCS, SAMSUNG, POLARIS and many other IT companies visit National Institute of Technology campus for placement.

College Events :

Sports week alumni meet, Tech fest, Freshers, Farewell, Some technical events from each departments, Guest lectures from IIT's Professor etc so many students used to participate in it its not so big its only for college students tech fest is a big event where students from various college use to com

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure at this institute is fixed by MHRD, Delhi and therefore it is much feasible. As per the new norms of MHRD the fee structure for general students is around rs. 40000 + 15000 and for SC and ST students it is half the fee of general.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Getting Education is no longer an insurmountable problem these days. Education loans are available to the needy and deserving students from the Nationalized Banks at reasonable rates of interest. These loans are repayable after the completion of the degree/diploma.

Campus Life :

The institute recognizes the extracurricular activities as a part to students’ life and hence well-equipped facilities for games and sports are provided within the hostels premises, in other general locations and in the student activity center. Hostels are equipped with most of the indoor games facilitates. The student activity center is used as an indoor stadium. A well laid fenced playing ground is used for outdoor games and tracking events. The activity center in one hostel has been covered under the Institute networking project with an internet facility in each room. Other hostels have an internet cafe each.

Hostel Facilities :

My hostel life was good but mess food was very bad. In 1st, 2nd, 3rd year we need to do room sharing with other students but in 4th year we are having single room facility with personal high speed internet cable to each room. So there is no problem in ac.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni of this institute are at reputed places in the country as well as outside. The seniors of the college are very helpful and stand with the problems raised by junior students.

Exam Structure :

Nit srinagar is a deemed university exam&labs is conducted by own faculty members not by externally the exams and labs are very busy activity with confusion not was chilled out.

Faculty :

The faculty is very highly educated. Almost each one of them has done PhD in their subjects. Many of them are quite well-known in the nation. Some of them have obtained their higher education from foreign universities and have even taught in foreign universities. They are very helpful in nature and listen very carefully to our doubts in the class. Both the traditional and advanced methods are adopted to teach. The student to faculty ratio is around 50:1. Industry exposure is limited in some of the streams.

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Just one company visits and that too isn't up to the mark. Its PISOFT. The highest average package in our campus was 6lpa earlier. Now that also doesn't exist. We have to go for off-campus placement. Only 4 students out of a batch of 63 students. After getting the degree.I will apply in a company for a job via off-campus placement.

Remarks:

There is always a positive as well as a negative thing about anything. The first positive thing i saw in my college when i visited for the first time is our college is situated way far from the city and thus free from the chaos and noise of the city. But i soon realise there is no public transport available for the college students have to arrange a private vehicle of their which cost them almost double than public transport. For the last 3 months there is an electric bus as a public transport from city to the college.

AIEEE, had state rank 146 and All India Rank 35056. Well I am a native of Jammu & Kashmir and I like the environment and weather here. Also it has the oldest civil engineering courses in India with one of the best faculty. I always aspired to be a structural engineer and certainly I learned a lot from my experience in this college.

Admission:

I gave exam in Srinagar only on a beautiful Sunday. The paper went well and besides I gave B arch exam also. The whole admission process was smooth and faced no hurdles. Got my seat allotted in civil engineering department and administration was cooperative. I got the form from NIT only, I filled it and then got it speed post/courier and got my admit card downloaded online.
