Remarks :
As I started my college was not too good but yet best college to study. This college teaches you some of the most important lesson in your life. Self reliance is one of them. I will surely recommend you for this great journey.
Entrance Preview :
AIEEE- My rank was 13560. Took admission with Civil Engineering, but after 1st semester my branch got slide to Mechanical on the basis of my rank.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum is quite good including exposure to industrial conditions during your VT. Apart from this projects are being given in final semester which gives you an idea of real time execution. Apart from this you can take part in various automobile teams taking parts in various events across world and country.
Internships Opportunities :
My college doesn't provide internship in B. Tech courses. But yes I remember that M. Tech guys used to get stipend. It was around 12000 per month.
Placement Experience :
Talking about mechanical, placements are quite good. We got four PSUs(IOCL, DVC, Coal India, Vizag Steel) and many big private sector companies(Tata Steel, Tata Hitachi, Tata Motors, Maruti) providing good packages. Placements that time in CS and ECE was not that good, but now guys are getting great packages in CS and ECE.
College Events :
Technical festival called OJASS is organised every year. It has lots of events including robotics, aircraft making and all. And a cultural festival called UTKARSH is also organised every year. Apart from this there are various different teams taking part in renowned events like BAJA SAE, FORMULA SAE and AIRCRAFT MAKING in which you can take a part and learn a lot. I was a part of team DAKSH (BAJA SAE).
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure at our time was pretty much feasible. I remember we used to pay a mere amount of 7500 Rs per semester. Yes you read it right...7500!!. But now fees of all NITs has increased and become equal. I don't know exact amount but it has increased a lot.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There was a scholarship given in 1st year on the basis of AIEEE ranks. Usually 10 top ranker of batch get to sit in the exam of the scholarship after which an interview takes place and scholarship is awarded
Campus Life :
Campus life was pretty much awesome. We had teams in sports like BB, Cricket, Volleyball and football. Apart from this every year marathon games and all Olympic games used to be organised in sports week. We had an literary and debating society, cultural society which were pretty active. Diversity was not good which is a case with each gov college(60 on 400).
Hostel Facilities :
Here I want to write...it was pathetic yet beautiful. Being a government college we got old buildings as our hostels and mess food quality also was an issue. But believe me with time we found our mess food great. Now the scenario is reverse. Hostels have been renovated and all world class facilities have been provided by our new director.
Alumni/Alumna :
Alumni network was made strong was my batch only. We formed an alumni group and organised first ever alumni meet in college. Now we have a good alumni network which helps student in getting VT in companies and also help in calling companies for campus placements.
Exam Structure :
It was not that frequent. The curriculum was designed in a very good way I must say. We used to go to labs during weekends which was sufficient and exams were like mid term and end term i.e. 2 in a semester. Being a government college there was not much pressure of surprise test and all.
Admission :
On the basis of my rank I was called for counselling from AIEEE. We were asked to fill our choices priority wise out of the available colleges with branches. My first priority was MNIT Jaipur(because its my hometown) and second was NIT Jmashedpur(opted to explore a new place). Same day results came out and I was given NIT JSR. Then college called me approximately 1 month after in the campus for all document procedures.
Faculty :
Well, faculty is the biggest disadvantage of this college. Some of the faculties are really experienced and good. But some of them clearly are below their qualifications and leaves you on your own for studies. You have to study on your own for good marks and knowledge in this institute which in a way proves out to be very useful.
