Remarks :
Our college management is really supportive, the alumni get lot of respect when we visit our alma mater. Since its a govt institution, the non faculty members need to be more professional in behaviour. The college canteen needs more improvement.
Entrance Preview :
I was selected through Odisha JEE, my rank was 543. I chose this college since it's more than 60 years old, first and best govt engineering college of Odisha.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Computer science engineering course was very well designed to teach students as per industry requirements. I have presented research paper in International conferences. The faculty here encourage us to present research papers. In first two semesters we are taught general subjects of all branches and English language skill development subjects. From second year onwards branch specific subjects are taught with a well designed course.
Internships Opportunities :
No internship conducted during our time by the college. But we used take trainings by ourselves during summer vacations every year.
Placement Experience :
Placement was good, IT companies like Infosys, TCS etc recruit in good number every year. Additionally many core companies like L&T, Tata Motors come here every year. Every year before placement season starts students are given pre placement training by the college.
College Events :
Every year our college conducted many technical as well as non technical functions. Such as Vassuant, the spring festival in the month of Feb, Dramatics festival, film festival, sports festival, literary festival etc. Among the technical festivals, robotics competition, paper presentation etc are conducted where students from different Engineerings colleges participate.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Since it's a state govt unitary university, the tuition fee is reasonable. It is around 10k per year. But there are several seats as self financed where students have to pay around 40k. Other than tuition fee there are other miscellaneous fee as exam fee, festival fee, so all in all for general seats around 20k is paid per semester. Hostel fee including food is around 7k per semester.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholarship and loan facilities are available for reserved categories students. The books in libraries are also given in loan to students.
Campus Life :
Since OJEE reserved 30% of the seats for girl students, so the gender ratio is 30:70 female isto male. There are various socities such as cultural, technical etc which conduct competitions every year. Students from north east part of India study in our college as 5% of the seats are reserved for them. So they add different flavour to our college life through their music and sports.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels VSSUT are well designed which helps in overall development of students in all fields, as all in door and out door games, libraries, wifi, common Tv and other facilities are provided to students. The hostel mess food is of good quality since the mess is managed by student only by the secretaries selected every month.
Alumni/Alumna :
We have a strong alumni network. They support the college during the need time. The alumni present around the world collected money to dedicate a golden jubilee gate to the college during its 50 years completion. And also an elearning center is also contributed by the alumni.
Exam Structure :
Exams are conducted semester wise. 30 marks for internal exam and 70 marks for final semester. Labs and exams were well planned so that we get enough time for preparation. Since ours is a unitary university, so exam papers are prepared and evaluated by our own faculty.
Admission :
I appeared in OJEE exam and scored 543 state rank. I attended counselling and opted for this college. The form for exam was out in the month of March and exam was conducted in May. The result was out in June and counselling was conducted by BPUT in August.
Faculty :
Faculty were very well experienced and student friendly. They encourage students to participate in several extra curricular activities and do research in different areas. We were encouraged to participate in robotics competetions conducted in different colleges around the country specially IITs and NITs.
