Course Curriculum Overview
MBBS is a very prestigious course,which provides you with a degree and license to practise anywhere in the county as a physician,and also opportunities to presure higher post graduate degrees. Faculty student ratio is variable from dept. to dept. ranging from 1:12 to 1:20 Faculties are highly qualified,most of them having MBBS,MD/MS/DNB(in one or multiple subjects)and even PhD. Teaching method is very good,student friendly,AC lecture theatre,Projectors,individual dept. and laboratories,library,examination hall everything is there. Moreover most of the teachers are approachable and available for the students,they are very helpful. Mostly offline classes are conducted. There are 3 semesters and one final university exam in a year,total four exams,almost one in two to three months. Qualifying marks is 50% in both theory and practical,and is a little difficult to pass to be honest,one has to study regularly to pass the exams.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunity is there just like any other medical college in India. This opportunity is provided to each and every student who has passed final year examination,and The Govt. of West Bengal provides them with a stipend of almost 30,000/- INR per month,for 1 year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Total cost per semester is 4500/- INR on an avg,including hostel fees and all academic costs (excluding canteen charges) So basically it is very very affordable,avg being less than one thousand per month,and it pays you back almost Rs 30,000/- per month during your internship for 12 months,so net cost in negative actually. One can avail all the state and central Govt. or provate scholarships while studying in this college. During internship (5th year) of MBBS,you get stipend of around 30,000/- INR per month.
Campus Life
Life is a balance between huge syllabus and exam pressure in one hand and fun with friends and so much things on the other. Fest is known as 'BEATS' and usually conducted in the month of October having a duration of 3 days and so many fun activities. All sorts of books of Indian and International authors,journals,and a AC reading room is available in the library,book can also be borrowed for some time period. Classrooms are quipped with AC,Projection screen,more than sufficient lights,fans,and high quality sound system,also Non AC lecture halls are very well ventilated. Lots of extra carricular acitivities are there on various important days like 15th Aug,26th Jan,Holi,Pujas,X Mas,Eid etc. There is a student union in the college.
Admission
The admission is secured after qualifying and securing a rank in the all India medical entrance exam - NEET-UG held by NTA. The application form is available in National Testing Agency site,and can be filled after passing 12th class or eq. exam with certain percentage. The rank req. is somewhere around 30,000 (AIR)for getting this college (MBBS degree) After the result is out,one has to register in WBMCC site for the state counselling(85% quota)process,and can also be availed through all india counselling as well(15% quota) Reservation benifits are their,for EWS,OBC (A&B),SC,and ST and PC candidates. After going through above mentioned counselling process,cadidate will be alloted to this college by state of central counselling authority,and he/she has to physically report to the college for verification of documents etc. and there the admission process will take place. The officials,teachers and seniors are very helpful,and will help candidates in their admission process.
