Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum has been updated now and then. New courses like Technology product management were added recently to term 5 of the curriculum. The faculty are competent enough to teach the subjects, and some in-house and visiting faculties are very good. Most of the visiting faculties are in the second year, specific to each course, and they are good at these courses. Faculty included are well qualified and either hold good positions at different companies or have done PhDs from some of the old IIMs and established B-schools of the country like ISB, MDI, etc. Exams are easy to pass, considering you listen and understand things in the course taught by the faculty.
Internships Opportunities :
A huge number of more than 100 companies visit for summer internship placements. Some bigger companies, including Microsoft, Adani, ABG, etc., offer summer roles, and the total stipend would be upwards of 1.5L. These companies offer PPO based on the performance during the internship and projects often are related to the job description that they float during the placement process.
Placement Experience :
Summer placements are finished after the final placements for the second-year students are finished. Students are not discouraged from looking for opportunities outside the college with their connections. More than a hundred companies visit every year, and everyone has ample opportunities to get placements. The highest package offered was by Microsoft of 64LPA, and the average lies around 17LPA. I plan to join the company from which I have received a job offer through campus placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Since IIM Nagpur moved to its campus at MIhan on the outskirts of Nagpur, the fee has been hiked from 13.5L to 18L. The extra cost would include mess charges and utility services at the hostel. Financial assistance includes educational loans provided by different banks without collateral. The college provides the scholarship based on merit, and other state government scholarships are floated by the Students in charge now and then. Placements are completed by the end of December and joining is usually in then next year.
Campus Life :
The college conducts multiple fests. Since most of the clubs and committees are student-run, the schedule depends on the availability of students and academic commitments. Tangerine Trails and Zero Mile Fest are the flagship events for Acad and Non-Acad clubs. Classroom and Library facilities are top class, which are also maintained well. Management is slightly stricter than other colleges as they keep an eye on everything that happens in the college. All the clubs and committees, along with their responsibilities, are mentioned on the college website itself.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel rooms are provided individually for each student. Washrooms are shared with multiple students and are very well maintained. Washing machines are kept in each wing of the hostels, with two machines for every floor. Meal quality is decent enough, with students ordering food from outside occasionally. The registration process is simple as it is handled by the Infrastructure committee, which the students run.
Admission :
Eligibility of the course can be done only through CAT which is handled by the IIMs. Once my CAT scores came out, I applied to the college through CAT on the college's website. Once I cleared the cut-offs specified by the college, I received a mail to fill out the SOP and application. All the information regarding the admission process is described on the college website itself. I availed reservation under the OBC quota. I got my admission offer in the first list itself in May. The admission process is straightforward and easy to follow. Speeding up the process can be done to improve the whole experience.
Interview Experience :
There was no GD included in the admission process. After shortlisting to the candidates, only personal interview was held. The interview was more on the personal side and how I can derive learnings and insights from those experiences. These included every thing from my school life to the jobs I had before joining the college. They even asked about my goals and how IIM Nagpur could help me achieve those goals in the future.
