Course Curriculum Overview :

The faculty here at IIM Trichy is amazing. The professors are specialized in their respective fields and are highly knowledgeable. They impart both theoretical concepts and the practicality of them being used in today's world. Furthermore, the professors are very helpful inside and outside the classroom. The teaching methodology is mostly through cases that are discussed in the classrooms. With this help, we can analyze the situations better and grasp the concepts. The entire year is divided into three terms, each having Mid Term and End Term Examinations. All these details are provided to us beforehand at the beginning of the term for our convenience.

Placement Experience :

The summer internship placement process starts around August. The average stipend for SIPs is 80K-90K per month. An estimate of 100+ companies came for SIPs giving ample opportunities to the students. For final placements, the process starts around September for the final-year students. The average for these is 18 LPA. Amazing companies came for both SIPs and final placement, including McKinsey, Gartner, Bain & Co., RBI, JPMC, Colgate Palmolive, Samsung, etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure includes - tuition fees, hostel fees, mess fees, Library resources, studying material, etc. No added expense is to be paid from the students' end post the payment of fees. The fees are paid as before every term.

Campus Life :

The Flagship Business and Cultural Fest of IIM Trichy, named Dhruva, is conducted in January on a huge scale. The college also conducts the academic fest named Nishtha also conducted in the same month. Other than that, to lighten the stress, various competitions and cultural activities are organized by the Clubs and Committees of the college. The resources available in The Learning and Resource Centre is extremely well equipped with various seating spaces on three floors, reading material, computers to access e-resources, etc. The classrooms are well maintained with projectors and modern equipment. The students entirely manage all the clubs and committees on the campus.

Hostel Facilities :

The students live in double occupancy for the time being. Bunk beds and extra cupboards were provided in each room to accommodate the increased batch size. There are times to use the ACs in the room (8 PM - 8 AM). Each floor has one water filter and two bathrooms. Each floor has only one geyser. The food is adequate. Although there are options, the food doesn't taste appropriate.

Admission :

The admission for MBA in IIM Trichy, like other B-schools, is via CAT score. The students are supposed to clear both the sectional cutoff (70 percentile) and the overall cutoff (93 percentile) to be eligible to sit for the further selection process. The college contacted the selected students via email and the entire process is conducted through the online portal. The process was extremely smooth. For any queries, the staff was available both by email and by calling.

Interview Experience :

Only the Personal Interview was a part of the admission process. The questions include - tell us about yourself, general knowledge-based questions, technical questions on academic background, questions based on internships done, etc.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are handled by the Placement team of our college. More than 100 companies visit the campus for placements. Due to the rules of the placement team, the companies that visit the campus cannot be disclosed. The average stipend for summer internships is usually around 70-80k per month and the average package for the final placements is around 17 lakhs. The placements in the college are decent enough.

Placement Experience:

For the summer internships, certain big names come after the second month of starting college whereas the majority typically come around the second term which is from October to December. On account of Covid-19, the level of placement has come down drastically with most of the companies being startups. As far as final placements are concerned, there is a lot of scope for finance and moderate expectations for marketing and little to slim for operation roles. The placement percentage always becomes 95 or 100% either by forcefully putting students in irrelevant job roles or making them withdraw from the process.

Remarks:

The only problem in this college is the infrastructure. Most of the buildings are very old and especially our department building is quite old and prone to leakage during rain. Other than that the college is quite good and well equipped with a big library and wifi facilities are also provided.

Remarks:

Overall the College is a good college. But there are too many levels of hierarchy. We never really know who is the main head of the institution because there are so many people like Principal, Chairman, Director, Coordinator etc. The university the college is affiliated under is not good. Anna University is keen on looting student's money.
