Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose to do this course following my passion and staunch interest in marketing management. The faculty members at IIM Trichy are extremely qualified, and almost all the senior faculty members have completed their Ph.D. from the Old IIMs. Most senior faculty have more than ten years of teaching experience, and the newer faculty have 4-5 years of experience. The teaching pedagogy is usually case-based, where the concepts will be taught through case discussions. The entire course is divided into six terms. The first three terms consist of mandatory subjects, while the next three terms are electives. The grading system is relative, and the grading components differ for different courses. The intake batch size is 410, including PGPM and PGPM HR, and the number of faculty members is 43. The faculty: student ratio is around 10. The exams always take place as per the fixed schedule, and exams were not very easy to pass. They test the conceptual knowledge of the student very well.

Internships Opportunities :

The campus placement process usually starts in August and lasts until all the students get placed. The roles offered under the internships usually range from Marketing, Finance, Consulting, Analytics, etc. The number of companies visiting the campus is more than 100. The highest stipend offered is 1.6 lakhs per month and the average stipend offered is 80-90 thousand per month. The major companies that visit the campus for summer placements are Colgate Palmolive, Samsung, Bain, and Company, Mckinsey, Deloitte, Cognizant, etc. All the batch students get placed by the end of January or February.

Placement Experience :

The placement process for the summer internship usually begins in the month of August. The EOI form will be floated for companies visiting the college for placements and must be filled out within the stipulated deadline. The CVs will be verified, and the candidates meeting the required criteria will be shortlisted for the further process. The process is usually the same for both summer Internships and Final Placements. More than 100+ companies visit the campus, and the college has witnessed a great hike in the average and the highest placement this year. The highest package for SIP is around 3.2 lakhs for two months, and the average is around 1.8 lakhs for two months. The average and highest CTC for the final placements are around 18 lakhs and 30 lakhs, respectively. The top recruiters coming to the campus are Colgate Palmolive, Samsung, Bain, and Company, Mckinsey, Avalon Consulting, GAIL, Deloitte, Amazon, etc. 100% of the students got placed during the placement process.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee of 18 lakhs for two years includes the tuition fees, hostel fees, and mess fees. The mess fee is around 20000 per month. Despite the fact that not everyone in the country meeting the required criteria might be able to pay the fees, there is a bank in the college that offers education loans to all students without any collateral. Also, the PGPM office keeps floating several applications for scholarships regularly. The campus placements happen in 2 stages, one is for the summer internship in the first year and for final placements in the second year. The average stipend for Summer Internships is around 80-90 thousand per month, and the final placements are around 18 lakhs CTC per annum. More than 100+ companies visit the campus for both summer and final placements.

Campus Life :

Campus life is extraordinary! There are eight student-run committees and more than 13 student-run clubs for the student's welfare. The clubs include both academic and non-academic ones. The Annual leadership conclave in which the world's top leaders will be invited will be conducted in September. The business conclave Nishtha and the Annual fest Dhruva will be conducted in December and January, respectively. The campus has one of the best Learning Resource Centers in the country, with several books available in digital and hard-bound formats. The campus has the best sports facilities. It has a cricket ground, basketball, football, volleyball, and throwball court. There is also a fully functional gym and swimming pool with a jacuzzi. The classrooms on the campus resemble the Harvard style of classrooms and can easily fit around 75-80 students. All the classrooms have AC and projectors.

Admission :

The admission process starts with registering for COMMON APTITUDE TEST (CAT). After the exam, the results are announced, and everybody who meets the required criteria will receive a mail. The basic eligibility criteria are that one should have completed graduation with at least 50 percent or a CGPA equalling 50 percent. Candidates appearing for the final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply. The shortlisting criteria for IIM Trichy are that one has to secure a minimum of 70 percentile in each section in CAT and an overall percentile of 92 Percentile. If a student meets this criterion, he/she will receive a mail with the application form and all the details that must be filled in. Once the form is filled out, after a couple of days, a Personal Interview will be scheduled. After the interview, a composite score will be generated based on the 10th and 12th UG academics, work experience, and Interview performance, and admissions will be offered.

Other Applied Colleges

Indian Institute of Management - [IIMR] | Master of Business Administration [MBA]

During the time at which I was applying the college didn't have a fully functional campus yet and they were still operating in a temporary campus. So, I felt it isn't worth to spend 18 lakhs for the same quality of education that IIM Trichy provides me wi

Placement Experience:

For the summer internships, certain big names come after the second month of starting college whereas the majority typically come around the second term which is from October to December. On account of Covid-19, the level of placement has come down drastically with most of the companies being startups. As far as final placements are concerned, there is a lot of scope for finance and moderate expectations for marketing and little to slim for operation roles. The placement percentage always becomes 95 or 100% either by forcefully putting students in irrelevant job roles or making them withdraw from the process.

Remarks:

The only problem in this college is the infrastructure. Most of the buildings are very old and especially our department building is quite old and prone to leakage during rain. Other than that the college is quite good and well equipped with a big library and wifi facilities are also provided.

Remarks:

Overall the College is a good college. But there are too many levels of hierarchy. We never really know who is the main head of the institution because there are so many people like Principal, Chairman, Director, Coordinator etc. The university the college is affiliated under is not good. Anna University is keen on looting student's money.
